I live in an area that has iron-rich water, and when I filled my hot tub the first time I was relieved to see that the water was nearly clear. But after a few days I was horrified to discover that the water had turned an unsightly brown all by itself.My dealer recommended using Metal Magic to deal with this, and he was absolutely correct. I added the recommended amount of Metal Magic (1 oz per 100 gallons) to my tub, and was delighted (not a term I use much) to find that by the next day the water was absolutely clear! Magic, indeed.The instructions also recommend re-treating your tub weekly. I didn't do that, and found that the brown discoloration of the water slowly returned, which I cleared up with a re-treatment.But since then, I have found that I only need to give a follow-up treatment whenever I add more water, which is usually monthly.It did seem that adding Metal Magic reduced the pH of the water, so I did need to add some "pH up" afterwards.As an aside, some research on the subject of hot tub water turning brown suggested that this is entirely a cosmetic issue and not an actual water quality issue (like pH or chlorine), but getting into a tub of discolored water is still very unappealing.Thus I'm SO happy with this product!

350 Gallon Spa:What I did to get good results with thisI had to use 6-8oz vs the 3 the bottle says but.. after the initial treatment it really is never needed until u drain and fill again the bottle claims to keep using it.*after adding the metal magic turn filter cycle from 4hrs/12hr or 8hrs/24hrs to constant. Leave it at constant for 48 hours and your spa will be crystal clear in no time.* I always keep a spare clean filter and swap them out and after about 12 hrs metal magic should have all that brown iron in your filter and not your spa. Remove it and install clean filter. After that within a couple hours the new filter will have the water iron free.* now set PH/Alk and once good add chlorine. Let mix and filter another couple hours.Your spa should be crystal clear! Now lower filter cycle back so you don’t waste money filtering clean water.*** Tip if you can’t seem to get cloudy water to clear it is likely the PH being to high. add PH down until it clears. Then Slowly raise the PH as much as you can without getting cloudy water. According to my strips I am always around 6.5PH that is the highest I can go without getting a bit of cloudy water. I am happy with that.** sorry for long review but I wish someone detailed this for me when I first did this. Most guides are to vague and details are needed.
