Lamotte Green Program Low Cost Water Monitoring Kit

I hold a chemistry PhD, but I was looking for something straightforward for a 4th-grade Girl Scout troop and it was perfect - we took several river samples, and ran the series of tests on them. The materials are simple (lots of adding little tablets and matching the color to an indicator strip for many of the tests), but the instructions were clear and easy to follow, and it was an accessible way to measure a series of contaminants. Affordable, too - we ran nearly all the tests on 4 different water samples and still have some left.

We bought this to do some testing on our private lake. It is a good test for a first try and for learning more about water tests in general. Instructions are good and easy to follow. It’s not for any real in depth research though. Would be good for a classroom setting as well as personal use.

I have used this kit to test my tap water, pond, and creek behind our property. Even a local spot where spring water or something comes flowing out of a pipe from the rock hill. Don't drink that ;) The kit has multiple tests which is great depending on what you're looking for. The materials and test tubes etc. are a good quality. Readings from tests seem pretty clear and conclusive. Negatives: The directions do cause confusion in a couple places. Maybe the final version of materials that made it into the kit differ visually/physically from version in directions. And it would be nice if they provided more details/info about different types of bodies of water you may be testing.

Love this product as it is easy to use and carry to different freshwater location to do on the spot water testing. I used this at a local waterway that I had suspected was contaminated and boy was I right. This product helped me inform my local government so that clean up measures could begin.

Look elsewhere for a water monitoring kit. This was a waste of money. It was missing items and the items provided are of very poor quality.

I had to buy this for my chemistry class but learning about what the river next to my house had in it was eye opening! This product works amazingly! And is great for chemistry classes and to test your own water!
