Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb: Brooklyn, The City Within

I’m a huge Alex Webb admirer, I have Suffering light and De la Calle. I found this Brooklyn book very weak. The complexity, the visual strength, the deep stories behind his images were not here in this series. I’m sorry Alex, but Rebecca is not even close to your standards and including her images in this book was not the best thing. I like the story behind them but the photos are just not good. I’ve shot in Brooklyn and I know the complexity of the city, cultures, religions, orthodox Jewish and Latin communities interacting in the same place and times, it’s just a fascinating canvas which offer much more than what you’ve got. I was expecting a masterpiece but I didn’t find it.

Alex Web es uno de mis fotógrafos de referencia y aunque el trabajo de Rebeca Norris me interese algo menos siempre es interesante ver distintos puntos de vista sobre un mismo lugar o tema. El formato y acabado del libro está muy bien y la impresión sin ser de las mejores también es buena. Aunque tengo otros libros del autor que me gustan mucho más, como por ejemplo Estambul, sin duda éste es un estupendo ejemplar para disfrutar de la fotografía y por tanto añadir a mi biblioteca. Considero que ha sido una buena compra.

Big Alex Webb fan. This book doesn’t disappoint. The middle section by Rebecca is not on par with the rest of the book, but I guess others might enjoy it. The Alex Webb pictures are amazing though, some of his best work in my opinion. The book did arrive a little dinged up though.

I think it's important to value this work as a whole, it's a beautiful shared work between Alex and Rebecca, they capture different and special scenes. Also, it arrived earlier! <3
