Gets the job done
Used this to add a second SSD hard drive to my laptop. Install was easy. Just plug the hard drive into the tray and screw it in place. Then put the tray back in like you would to replace the DVD drive.

Great for early 2011 MacBook Pro!!
This works great in my early 2011 MacBook Pro, along with upgraded RAM (from 4GB to 8GB), Solid State Drive and new fan. With SSD & HDD (in place of CD/DVD player, total of 850GB of storage. With all of these combined components, it feels like a brand new laptop.

Only Used the Circuit Board Offset Adapter for a SSD.
I ended up using only the circuit board because it would not fit inside my new HP laptop computer. But I kind of expected that would be the case and used Velcro brand adhesive pad to hold the disk drive in place. I was installing a SSD and not a mechanical disk drive. I could not find any holes that would line up with this gadget and the metal protruded over some circuitry. I would have used the metal part if it was possible. But I'm just as pleased anyway because the circuit board adapter fit very well. I just had to find a way to secure the SSD and I did. I disassembled this adapter and recycled the components, so nothing went to waste. Look at my review of the HP Laptop Computer I wrote on September 6, 2016 in the 5 star review section. You will have to click on View All Reviews because I got this computer via the Amazon Vine Program. So even though I got this laptop computer directly from Amazon, they don't list it as a verified purchase. So my detailed review is lumped in with people who probably don't even own this computer and those with just some dumb opinion. It is not fair that Amazon Vine reviewers are treated like this, but I don't make the rules. I still get so-called free items and I continue to write detailed unbiased reviews even though nobody will make the effort to click the All Reviews button. It is not free either. Amazon reports this as self-employment income to the IRS every year. So the self-employment social tax alone is 15.3% plus I have to pay income tax on whatever tax value Amazon assesses it to be. So it comes out to over 30% of the taxable value plus I have to write a mandatory review that passes their scrutiny. Sometimes they refuse my review and I have to rewrite it to their standards. It doesn't happen very often, but if I'm too harsh with a review, it will be refused. Sorry to editorialize. Pet peeve. If you need any more assistance, don't hesitate to consult with me. I'm fairly knowledgeable with this sort of thing. It seems like I'm upgrading and giving away computers continuously. This is a very good value laptop computer and I'm thinking about actually buying perhaps the next iteration. I already had some spare SSDs, so the upgrade cost was minimal. I did purchase an 8 GB RAM stick to bump it up to 8 GB. This particular model tops out at 8 GB from what I've read. I'm going to sell the 4 GB RAM that came with the computer to offset the cost a little. It's good for regular
Works as advertised. Word of caution, when you put an SSD in the tray, you will not get the performance out of it unless your bay is connected via SATA 3, most are just SATA so the transfer rate stinks. It's good for regular, crappy HDD though because those stink anyway. In the end, I just replaced the HD in my Notebook with an SSD and use external USB 3 drives

Installed Samsung Evo SSD on my 2012 MacBook Pro
I used this to install a second Samsung Evo SSD on my 2012 MacBook Pro for video editing. I bought the 1TB version, I followed some instructions on YouTube and it was super simple. I already have a 500 GB Samsung SSD for my boot drive, now I have this second drive in the same machine. Using in external was annoying as far as unplugging and plugging. Plus i don't have to worry about bringing the external drive wherever I go. So the second hard drive in the machine is better for my needs. FIRST, REMEMBER TO FORMAT THE DRIVE USING YOUR COMPUTER. USE AN EXTERNAL ENCLOSURE OR A SATA TO USB CONNECTOR (WHAT I USED). YOUR COMPUTER WILL NOT READ THE HARD DRIVE UNLESS YOU FORMAT IT FIRST. I FORMATTED IT MAC OS EXTENDED JOURNALED. THEN I INSTALLED IN THE COMPUTER AND IT WAS WAS ABLE TO READ AND WRITE.

Works fine. It’s a little thinner than the one it replaced for my HP 8470p laptop and docking station but it fits in the slot if you’re careful. I use it in the docking station slot and not in the laptop so I don’t know if the thinner form factor causes a problem or not. I suspect not.

What an excellent concept
I love that I can turn my Laptops into a more useful device. I now can work with larger file formats, using this Hard Drive Caddy Tray. Moreover, I can hot swap it with a DVD player if need be. I can easily upgrade the HDD with an SSD, I can even use it to load different Operating Systems.
