Beautiful Tank
Not saying anything new here, but just to echo other reviews with my experience: this thing is a beautiful tank. Very smooth, very sturdy, and very effective. Like others, I was about to buy more of the $7 cheap plastic ones that threaten to throw springs and plastic in your face when they inevitably explode, when I saw the Iron Grip. I took some time to try and figure out which model (80 or 90) and whether I wanted the extensions and stand base. Decided to go with the 80 with the extension. I have medium glove hands, so as others have said, I didn’t need the extensions for comfort. However, this thing has some serious resistance and only 6 slots, and I’ve found that the extensions are great for working up to a new weight. You can start all the way down at the extensions with your grip which makes it a bit easier, then progressively move upwards on the handles towards the spring, making it harder. The 90 was tempting as it offers higher resistance, but honestly I don’t know if I’ll ever make it that far. Not using this for any weight lifting competitions, just strengthening my hand decades after metacarpal surgery, and generally strengthening my arms, so I won’t need nearly 200lbs of resistance. But if I do, this thing is so gorgeous and well made, I’d be more than happy to pony up again, this time for the big boy.

A well made grip exerciser
Huge upgrade over the old spring grip I had years ago. Like that it's adjustable. Seems well made and will last a long time.

One of the best grippers!
This is a great quality gripper! Heavy build but sturdy and will last a lifetime. Easy to use and to adjust between resistances. I am up to 75 lbs. after a month, working to get up another notch for 10+ reps. I don't foresee getting to point where the resistance is below my strength. Grip is knurled so it can be a bit uncomfortable. I added the padded grip to these, very well worth it. Straight bars are still a bit awkward at times, but that may just be me. Well worth the higher price, my trust in the other options out there was slim so glad I paid the extra for these!

Finally, a Grip Exerciser That's Well-Designed and Well-Made
In the gym, for most of my training that involves pulling, I use lifting straps because otherwise the grip is the weakest link in terms of poundage used. It's not that I have a weak grip; it's just that the major muscles of the back (or glutes, quads, and hamstrings for deadlifts) are a heckuva lot larger and more powerful than muscles like the flexor digitorum profundis and flexor pollicis longus in the forearm that are involved in gripping. Because of that, I've ended up with a collection of various standalone grip exercise devices that I can use a few times a week while sitting in the recliner and watching Prime Video (shameless plug) in the evenings. Most of those options are either fairly flimsy or very poorly calibrated in terms of resistance. For example, I have one set of traditional coiled spring grips where the 200 lb and 250 lb versions are completely indistinguishable. The GD Iron Grip is a phenomenal design. At first, I thought it was going to be too difficult to change the resistance and/or the length of travel. A few minutes with the user manual and practicing the procedures a couple of times and both adjustments are an absolute breeze that can be done in about 5 seconds. And the unit is built like a tank. The dual, high-torsion springs will no doubt last decades, and the resistance settings feel like the real deal. The 141 lb setting feels about like the aforementioned 250-lb coiled spring grip, and I can't effectively use the 198 lb setting yet. Unlike a bunch of other home-use exercise equipment I've bought, this one is worth every penny.

Longtime grip-trainer
This is the type of review I kind of feel bad about writing because the vast majority of my grip strength comes from another company's products. I own Captains of Crush grippers, even their Imtug and a couple of their Zenith grippers but it is a hassle to keep up with them, store them, etc... I am certified on Captains of Crush #3 but I never use it for workouts. I can get around 5 reps with the 2.5. The 2 is where I can go to 12. The GD Iron Grip Ext 90 covers the range of the Captains of Crush "Guide" gripper to the #2. Seeing those are the ones I do workouts with it's all I need. An added bonus with the Ext 90 are the extensions you can connect to the handles. It includes an Allen wrench and two extensions with two bolts. If you have wide hands like I do, you find yourself fighting to keep your pinkie on the gripper. The extension fixes that. It's not only good for strength in all fingers but it also allows you to train your pinkie which is a very important finger in heavy weightlifting and grip competition. This set unlike the GD 70 and below is made of cast, knurled metal. I know knurling isn't for everyone. I personally prefer it. It takes away the soft hands/palms. One thing I was interested in the way you change the weight/resistance. It's much easier than I expected. If you look at the picture of the gripper there a is a tab towards the back of it. You put the slightest pressure on it and squeeze the handles just a little. It unlocks it and you can slide the resistance up and down. Once you squeeze it again, it locks in on the new weight. I was surprised at the quality of this item. There hasn't been even a slight squeak from the spring. It's an excellent product for those, especially, that are already strong in the grip area but could be used on the lowest tension by beginners too. Well worth the price to be able to have the equivalent of multiple grippers in one easy to use device.

Very well made, easy adjustments, and silent operation. I really like the included stand. I set the hand gripper in the stand on my office desk and it reminds me to use the gripper throughout the day. Otherwise, as the saying goes, out of sight, out of mind. The knurling in the handle is quite uncomfortable and taping is advised. I suggest using the handle extenders and taping to within 1.5 inches from the handle bottom. Otherwise, the stand cannot be used. The tape that is specifically sold for this device is very expensive. For now, I have used hockey tape, but a little more cushion would be better. I may try the tennis racket tape that I have somewhere around the house. My only wish is that the gripper have one tension level below the minimum of 25 kg. 25 kg is already quite firm and a lower tension would be better if one hand is recovering from an injury. Other than that, it seems to be a very well-made and well designed device.

Bought it as a gift. Feedback was that besides the rough grips, which could be engineered smoother, it is a very solid hand grip.
