Breville Lustra Electric Kettle | 1.7 L | 3kW Fast Boil | Matt Forest Green [VKT200]

I ordered this specifically for the metal spout because on my old Bosch kettle, the plastic had started to crumble slightly where the hot water poured out. I never noticed before so not sure how much plastic I have already ingested but - ugh! Anyway, after finally spotting that, I now wanted a metal kettle and this fit the bill perfectly. The colour is gorgeous, a lovely forest green which matches nothing in my kitchen but I'm cool with that cuz nothing else in my kitchen matches either! I did order it mainly for the cool colour, but it's actually a very well made kettle, easy to fill and easy to clean and the taste of the water is fine after the first few cups. I'm quite happy with my purchase!

This kettle is great, such a nice colour and it being matte is much easier to clean down than the shiny ones. Doesn't take too long to boil either

We wanted a green kettle to go with the feature wall in our new kitchen. That narrowed the field considerably. But we quite liked look and features of the kettle. And generally we’re pretty happy with it.Just a couple of minor niggles stop me giving it 5 stars.First, the lid isn’t hinged, it’s just a simple removable lid. Now, that’s fine, but there’s a practicality consideration. When the kettle has just boiled, the bottom of the lid is covered in condensed hot water, and the rim of the lid is very hot too. So you want to turn it upside down, so that the hot water doesn’t get your surface wet - and depending what the surface is, potentially damage it, I guess. But when the lid is upside down, you can’t see which way the longitudinal handle is facing. So, in short, you need to take quite a lot of care with where and how you lay down the lid, so that you can pick it up without tipping water off it, or touching an uncomfortably-hot part.Second is a very minor point. We have a polished stone worktop, and it took me a few weeks to work this out. I kept thinking someone was moving the kettle back to sit next to the toaster, and the rest of my family kept denying it. Eventually, I had an idea. I got a tape measure out, and my suspicions were confirmed - for some reason, the base wiggles slightly as it comes to the boil, and just wanders over to the right by about a centimetre. In other words, it sneaks towards the toaster every time we boil it. By how much depends on how full it is. Like I said, maybe this doesn’t matter too much in the scheme of things, but it does mean I have to move it back over to where it should live, about once a day.Otherwise, it’s got a good capacity, it’s pretty quiet, and boils satisfactorily quickly, and it’s good value.

Lovely looking kettle and nice colour. This kettle has lasted 2 years with minimal use so a little disappointing as it hasn’t lasted long so would not purchase again.
