Great updated look! Cool functions! 99% of the functions work.
Everything works as promised, which is a rare find these days. Definitely recommend!Only thing I am a little disappointed with is that not all of the buttons work nor are programmable. And the camera doesn’t always turn on. I think it has to do with the bus encoder. It just malfunctions sometimes.

Unit is better than the original BMW E83 unit.
Pros;-It’s easy to install.-Bluetooth function with my Apple cellphone is clear. Automatic connection and disconnect when vehicle is turned off.-All cables provided.-the staff in China is helpful. But you need to push. Send emails and photos and wait for response. Calling always seems to work better.Cons; No FM or AM. The software is in there but it doesn’t work despite setting the region to USA.-can’t connect to the Bluetooth OBD scanner.-no appropriate Manuals.-can’t display mpg and other engine data with an OBD that can’t connect to the unit. I was guided to purchase the specific OBD scanner by the support staff in China. Still not working.

MUST KNOW BEFORE PURCHASING
Like everything, depending on who you are, this may be a very great purchase or one you'll want to return immediately. I got the original delivery and then also got a replacement, which also functioned one in the same and have two x3's e83's, one with stock nav, one without. The 3 things with this that should be known if important to you at all are- Your stock radio will not function at all other than strictly as a clock. Volume controls are lost after this conversion. You would have to use the volume control on touch screen. Some aftermarket units have plug and play steering wheel control, directly from harness without doing any modifications, on e83 that will not be the case for this unit.- USB's don't read immediately. Even with an option to use them in multiple different modes and transfer speeds via the settings (which is great), they generally do not boot quickly after turning your car on and off and sometimes don't scan at all, unless you go to file manager which then prompts the scanning process. If storing apps or music on a usb or using a hotspot dongle or carlinkit where you're depending on the usb after each start up, I would not recommend.- The radio antenna from the back of a standard business radio will not fit as is, into the back of this unit. You will need to purchase an adapter. Be wary of the adapters you purchase as the most of the RCA style heads that are required to fit the plug on the unit, may be too chunky to actually have the unit screwed on normally due to placement, so will need to find a small one with a flexible body. These 3 things aside, if can be overlooked for your day to day, this is a solid purchase. Responsive, clean look, seamless connection via bluetooth or wifi and very simple to install. Amazon also offers 24 support for this, so again a very solid purchase if those 3 things I mentioned above aren't sticking points.

Upgrade my BMW X3 interior to current technology!
The good: Car Play, Maps, Movies, rear/front camera, can add rear DVD display and all the options of Android Tablets +++++The Bad: The installation instructions are limited to a pdf manual which is generic and not specific detail necessary for the system configuration. A necessary antenna splitter or adapter was not included essential for radio to function?

pretty much a disaster - ended up returning
zero installation instructions. horrible user interface. terrible sound quality from unit. not fully compatible with existing car audio controls. worked as described for about 5 days then died. boots up to Android logo on startup then goes black and stays there until I start car again. so it died after 5 days. returning it.

Almost; but not quite it!
I'll tell anyone not to waste your time with this unit. Installed in a 2008 X3 and it looks good, music sounds good, the display is nice and responsive. The bluetooth mic is that is built into the unit is garbage. Had it not been for that I might've been able to live with the other quirks. You will need an fm antenna adapter to make the radio work. I installed this without the antenna and adapter and only got static on the radio. Installed the adapter and the radio works fine. It does not display the name of the radio station or any song info. The factory cd player will no longer work. The volume control on the factory radio doesn't work either. My car already had the factory installed aux port, so this was all plug and play except for the radio antenna. I could've lived with it, but the bluetooth mic sounds like crap on day 5 - sounded good the first couple of days. A bit of warning to other X3 owners - watch plenty of youtube videos on how to install; but pay attention to which radio you're purchasing. The 9 inch and 8 inch models come with a canbus - and you have to go into the settings to map the steering wheel functions. They will work, just takes a few clicks on the radio. You can retain steering wheel volume up/down, next track forward/reverse. If you purchase the more expensive 10" screen models, from it looks like you'll be able to retain the factory radio functions and also the cd player. The wiring harnesses between the two are slightly different, so pay attention when watching reviews. Maybe you'll have better luck with the bluetooth mic on phone calls. Ali- websites have models for cheaper prices if you're willing to endure the 3 week wait/ship time.
