A more interesting approach to learning Poker
Lol!!! I am not a beginner poker player but I am a huge fan of Tylerâs... I am a fan of his writings Because every book is an adventure rather than some lame boring lecture type readings... while reading one part of this book I literally spit a drink all over my desk laughing!!! Tyler has a way of capturing his audiences attention and holding on to it with dear life and when you think you know where he is taking this adventure he makes a u turn then does a donut in the Big Boys parking lot and leaves you wondering did I just read that!!!! This is a great book for the beginner and for those of you who has been playing for years!!! Great job Tyler!!!!!

Practice what you read.
Get inside the mind of a poker player, it's not only about the numbers. Great tips to be a successful Texas Hold'em player and win $$. Practice what you learn. It's a quick read but, I'll have to reread some of the sections. I personally liked the etiquette tips. Vicky Laplante

Thanks for the remedial TN,itâs always good to review and hear your insights. Interesting format ,as a firm adherent to SPATS and your other books,I can vouch for their effectiveness. You do a good job of putting the why with the what.

Hilarious and Informative
I literally laughed out loud throughout this book. I'm not a beginner but feel like one still. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a poker book as much ... SERIOUSLY well done Tyler đ

The Game of Deception is Afoot!
Basic Training: Beginnerâs Guide to Texas Holdâem is a thought-provoking poker book and presents two ways to think about the game of poker. Tyler, unlike many authors, provides his unique take on the basics of Texas holdâem, but is also smart enough to advise the readers to consider both sides of poker - the âtechnicalâ side as well as the âplay the playerâ side of poker. There are a lot of âit dependsâ in the game of poker. Tyler teaches you to always stick to your style while also switching gears and playing the opposite of the table. To feel free to modify his instructions if it better suits your style of play. Every player is different; therefore, everyone's approach to the game is going to be a little different.Tyler focuses on Texas holdâem poker and deals with how to develop a poker strategy to outmaneuver and outplay more advanced players in cash games as well as poker tournaments.Tyler presents overall poker concepts in a fun and entertaining way. âBasic Trainingâ covers everything you need to succeed in Texas holdâem including plenty of example hands and insider poker tips.It was a great pleasure reading âBasic Trainingâ, Tyler changed my point of view on several important key issues. I strongly encourage players at absolutely all levels to read this book and get back to basics. It's more of an advanced poker book for beginners, so if you are just beginning, I definitely would recommend reading âBasic Trainingâ and get an insiderâs edge.Tyler makes a strong effort to motivate beginners to read over the material several times and makes the best attempt at encouraging further interest in anyone who plays the game.If you're thinking about buying "Basic Training" by Tyler Nals and you're serious about learning how to play poker the right way, stop thinking and buy this book immediately. Once you receive and dive into this book, you will be extremely pleased.

A MUST HAVE for beginners.... A MUST HAVE for pros.
Just finished it and the resulting smile from the last chapter is still on my face. Well played, Tyler! This book covers all aspects of both cash and tournament poker from one's first exposure to the game to finding hidden holes in your game after years of playing. At first, I thought this book might be too basic for my level of play. That thought soon left as I identified many tools I can definitely use. If we are honest about our game, there are patterns and weaknesses that often develop that escape our notice. I already can identify ways to improve upon my play. (like the ego driven tendency to over defend the blinds) I felt it was kind of like taking your poker game to the gym to keep it in shape. I was especially fond of the chapter on proper poker etiquette. Please, someone, find a way to post this in poker rooms and tourney halls! Bottom line....I found both great enjoyment and poker/ life value in this book. I highly recommend it!

Once again, Nals knocks it out of the park!
A fresh perspective for beginning poker players, Tyler's unique writing style and ingenuity provide a clear view of what to expect when you're new to the game - without the boring monotony of "info vomit." Staccato with his delivery, he reinforces critical concepts to his readers in diabolical fashion!
