Do air filter brands make a difference? Like will this one perform less than Motorcraft?

As far as I can tell, from a visual comparison, they look the same. Mind you, the old one was not "full" but you could tell that it was cleaning. To the best of my looking, I would say the tightness of the paper looks the same. Never wait until you can't see light through it when holding up to the sun or a bright light. I like filters to be free flowing for best performance of my equipment. I use a K&N re cleanable filter on my '99 Tahoe. The Ford belongs to a friend and I am sure she wont be keeping it to put 356K on the clock as I have mine. That kind of filter means doing maintenance which after several cleanings has paid for itself. My K&N went on at 74K.

Hi, Will this filter fit a 2013 Ford Escape with a 1.6 engine?

The easiest way to find that out is to go to an auto store's website where you will type in your car's information; year, make, model etc. and then search the part. Chances are it will be the same but then car companies can make drastic changes from one year to the next. My '99 Tahoe is a good deal different than the 2000 model that succeeded it. So do some diligence to make sure it is in fact the same filter.
