Who knew how a real G&T should taste!
According to their website, this company researched the old tonic recipes in Britain before the addition of quinine (to prevent malaria).A friend saw this in New Orleans and sent me a link and I found it on Amazon.I love gin and tonics, but one of my major complaints about G&T's is the tonic water hides the various botanical flavors of different gins. This is even more an issue given the sudden rise in the production of boutique gins that are becoming increasingly available, I want to be able to taste the differences.El Guapo Bitters is the solution. It was a tad strange to make in G&T with a slight red twinge, but the product does indeed taste like tonic water. I mixed about 1/2 shot with 3 parts seltzer water to make mine, along with a shot of gin (you can use up to two shots before the gin overtakes the bitters). The result was a very, very clean tasting drink. I only tried a couple of gins on the first go-the mass produced Rangpur from Tanqueray and the harder to find Bluecoat. The Bluecoat is more citrus than juniper and it showed it's flavors so much better with the El Guapo. They have a repeat customer here and I am going to recommend it to a couple of restaurant bars I frequent locally. They have several other "flavors" I plan to try.

Them English are funny Birds.
When the English first explored the Amazon of South America, the explorers started coming down with Malaria. Lucky for them one the the Aztec Indians told them to chew on the Bark of a tree. Known today as Purivian Bark. The Quinine Chemical in the Bark broke the Malaria fervor. But was really difficult to digest being so bitter. So, what did the English do? And Gin! Yes, what you are actually drinking is a Colonial cure for Malaria. But ain’t it good!I bought this after they initially touted the hydroxy cloraquine. Which is a derivative of Quinine. Which is what Tonic is made of. Unlike our fearless leader though. I have Come to the conclusion that it shouldn’t be used to combat C-19.

Strong grapefruit flavor, make it weak
This tonic has a strong grapefruit flavor, which isn't bad, but is a bit unusual. It's less woody than Q or Fever Tree. The flavor works well with more citrus-y gins like Bluecoat or Aviation, and okay with typical London dry gins, but not as well as regular tonic with unusual gins like Hendricks.I like to make it in a Sodastream with about 1 oz. syrup per 1 litre bottle. That's about 1/2 to 1/4 as much as the directions recommend. That gives you something about as strong as Q tonic or Fever Tree tonic that's quite nice by itself.

Second order, love it!
This is my second order because I love this stuff! I had a doctor tell me that quinine used to be used to help with arthritis. I am willing to accept that this may be in my head, but I swear the pain is better. Not medical advice, just saying. I am a non-drinker, but using bitters in my homemade lemonade is delicious. It adds a "lower flavor note" to the lemon juice. It arrived in a timely manner both times, and I will never order from anyone else.

Different than I expected
This is the second brand of tonic syrup that I have tried in my search for a healthier G&T. The flavor is good, but the sediment is off-putting. When I measured it out it was almost chunky, and when I mixed my drink it had a lot of solids in it, enough to coat the bottom of the glass. I may be a bit fussy, but I have a hard time downing my entire drink when it looks like I'm about to swallow a bunch of "stuff." My contact with the company, while prompt and polite, was not what I was hoping for. Their answer was that "the sediment is normal" which may be the norm for their product. I will be moving on to try something that conforms more to my idea of "syrup."

Too sugary!!!
This is so sweet it's hard to palate. Bitters are supposed to be bitter. In addition, it tastes more like bark than extracted quinine. It may be a flavor people go for but it's not even close to any traditional recipe.

Great Tonic Syrup
I bought this for my husband and he thought it was great. I recently bought a soda maker, but did not want to purchase tonic syrup with aspartame in it because he does not like the flavor of it and won't drink it. My husband felt it made a really great cocktail. I was not able to find anything like this at any liquor store and found it online. This is great too because buying a bottle of regular tonic soda at the grocery store is cheap, but if you don't drink the bottle right away, it goes flat. We were able to make soda water and add this to it any time we wanted.

night time leg cramps
I used this product for night time leg cramps, and found that it helped somewhat, but I still suffer cramps, usually toward early morning. Taking a larger amount, than prescribed by the Dr., gave me intestinal distress.
