Nick Stone Series
First got hooked on Andy McNabs books when I read Immediate Action closely followed by Bravo Two Zero then Seven Troop, all books relating to Andy,s personal experience, however having never been a fan of fiction books I was a little reluctant to pick up Andy's first book in the fiction series Remote Control, centred around deniable ops recruit Nick Stone. Now having completed books 2,3,4,5 & book 6 - Dark Winter I can honestly say he now has me completely hooked. So far every single book in the series has had me hanging on his every word, it's as though I'm actually there with him watching his every move and in some cases the details are so exact it's almost like watching a film. His eye for detail is absolutely amazing obviously down to the vast wealth of experience he gained whilst serving in Her Majesty's Forces. I'm off now to download book 7, so if you're deliberating whether or not to give Nick Stone a chance take my advice, just do it, but I warn you it's very hard to put any of the books down once you've started.

Very good read.
This is the story of a group off terrorists planning to flood Europe & USA with the dark winter. This is a most deadly chemical which when released will form a deadly cloud of chemicals that kills slowly ,but in a horrible way. Nick joins up with a girl called suzy who is equally as good as Nick to find the Terrorists & secure the Dark Winter.

Realistic and absorbing
I think that the difference between Andy McNab and other writers of the 'tough guy' genre (such as Lee Child's Jack Reacher series) is that he writes from his own personal experience and that of people he has known during his time in the SAS. This makes his character Nick Stone (who is clearly Mcnab) so believable. This has all the ingredients that have made his books so successful - a realistic and terrifying plot, strong characters and a hero who is not a superman, but has the aptitude, ability and intelligence to always eventually come out on top despite various setbacks and beatings along the way. I find his books both entertaining and educational, combining travel writing, SAS survival and surveillance skills and engrossing fiction. A great tale, well told.

Truth, Fantasy, or Fiction
All of Andy McNabb's series of Nick Stone, may well be classed as fantasy by some, however recent "historical events" about the so called "dirty war" against terrorism of all kinds, shows that war in all its non glory & evil, continues as ever in the "midst of so called peace", wither it be in London, Ireland, Iraq, Nigeria, France etc.. "unless we Brits be warlike and keep our walls as stout as oak, we shall be like sheep" (apologies to SP). At least Andy McNabb can "fantasise" from real life experience, the Q is why has her never been a Documentary / Film series made of this home grown Hero, or is it to close and honest and brutal for the establishment

Heart Broken!
Why ? A great read but not one I would want to read again, could not stand all the emotion ! 80 year old should not be sat here in tears after reading a book.

Deeply disappointing
It's pathetic that Stone always misses with his first shot or punch.IAll the tech garbage and delay. Waiting for action is like waiting for Godot. Also couldn't we have a happy ending for once
