Hornwort, also known as Coontail, has sturdy, layered hair-like foliage that helps oxygenate and clarify the water as well as keep algae growth to a minimum. It is found free-floating worldwide, in moving and still waters, or loosely anchored in muddy bottoms. The tips will shorten and thicken in fall, before falling off and settling on the pond floor to spend the winter as buds. In spring, these buds grow to repopulate the pond. Hornwort leaves are dark green and grow from a 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches long on stems that can reach 24 inches in length. They may be potted or just left to float in the pond. You will receive several stems in one bunch tied with at the bottom. You can plant as is or you can release them and allow them to float. These plants need at least 8 hours of light per day and they absorb nutrients through its stems so they do not root. Approximate Purchase Size: 6" to 8" Review: Fat plants - Yes some needles fell off and a couple spots were brown BUT they all are thriving. Review: dead plants - I received the plants quickly, however they were very brown in the package. when i opened the plastic a horrible smell came out . I gently placed the plants in a gallon jug of fish tank water. after gently swishing i tried to remove the plants using the metal binding. they fell apart and had only stems with few leaves. one bundle only had stems about one inch long , and those were soft and mushy. I tossed out the jug with the leaves outside because the smell was bad.I did put the plants in my hospital tank thinking they might grow. After about two weeks i had to do a total cleaning of the tank , filters, gravel.every thing turned further brown and mushy. the plants i tried to rescue smelled really bad and the leaves that it did have fell off and covered the gravel and clogged the filters. I have thrown the rest of the plants away so I don't see how i can ask for a refund.

Great little plants. Just do some pre-tank steps to keep from shredding in your tank
I was apprehensive about purchasing this because of reviews that said the plant shredded and made a mess out of their tank, but took a chance. Yes, plant shreds a little from the shock of shipping. Yes, there were some brown areas on the plants. However, my tank was fine because I 1) Rinsed the plants several times 2) Kept them in a bucket filled with water from my tank for a few days, even gave them some sun ... after that there was NO SHREDDING IN MY TANK... so with a little pre-tank care I have 3 nice ;plants that are known to do a great job with removing nitrates from the tank.

Fast growing!
Beautiful plants and they’ve already triple in size in less than a month! Highly recommend for big tanks! Mine is 150 gallon and it’s stretched to the top already!

Plant was not in the best condition
Forgot look at the review before buying this. The plant came in 5 day from the order date and was faster then what was indicated which was good but the plant did not come green and vibrant as the picture it was brown, looks like it was dying. After seeing the condition, that is when I went the review. I read a review and it stated that the pines clogged their filter so I dumped the plant in a separate bucket before putting it in the tank so much of the pine came off, after rinsing the plant and thought I was good when placing it in my tank so much more pines came off had to clean my filter a few times to clear the clog and to get all pines and broken plant out of my tank. I am hoping the plant can be revived.

It wasnt a complete waste
Most of the plants were dried out in the package, even though the plants were wet and well packaged, I had to rinse off alot of the dead parts before placing it in the tank. Its been like two weeks now and with aquarium plant fertilizer I can see alot of new growth. And the plants are coming back around. I will say that they give you alot in each bundle, I can say made it still a good purchase. So it wasn't a complete waste.

Mostly arrived brown.
Arrived on time. Plant was in bad shape. I put plant in a bucket with a bubbler. After several days I pulled some small pieces that are still green. Most ended up in the trash.
