Color and form

I originally purchased this statue to be placed in my courtyard. I planned to paint it with a clear coat of polyurethane not knowing if that would be adequate protection to use it outdoors. Certainly my initial reaction may be attributed just to personal preference, or maybe that it came just a a particular moment in my life. For whatever reason (and there could be many) this statue touched something very deep within unlike any statue of Our Blessed Mother has done over the years. (I am now 76). The experience was such that it is now taking the place of a beautiful hand carved statue of Our Lady of Fatima (same size which is now valued at about $3,000. which is out for repair). This one will remain in my chapel even when that one is returned. (No offense to our Lady of Fatamia intended). But I still needed one for outdoors! The second one arrived today. There are subtle differences in the painting of the face but it is to be expected given that this part of the process was not “machine made”. One thing that amazed me was how by viewing the head from different angles, I experienced different qualities, attribute - of the subject.. No doubt you might wonder how anyone could be so enthusiastic about a statue. No doubt all this is very subjective. Certainly that in part is due to the significance of the subject for this writer. However I have a degree in art education and have seen many statues over the years. Many were way beyond my financial reach. I was amazed to find such a beautiful one at this price. And even though it is “made in China”, that is of little importance. As far as I am concerned, the original sculptor and those who contributed to the finished product broke the barriers of commercialism as far as I am concerned. I experience this sculpture as a true work of art and grace. I hope you find this helpful, and, should you decide to purchase one, that it will give you as much grace and joy as it did me.

My parents had a similar one at my brother's grave for almost 15 years and it somehow broke. My mother was very sad about this, so I wanted to get her one as a replacement. I probably looked at about 100 of these statues, but they all had faces that looked strange, unnatural. Not this one! Her face is beautiful - soft and expressive features. I would definitely recommend this one compared to the many others available.

Lightweight and beatiful.

It was beautiful. I was a little leary because usually the picture you see isn't always true of what one receives. We ordered the colored figurine. This was ordered to give to our retiring church sacristan. After countless years of dedicated service to our parish she is passing on this responsibility; so our parishioners wanted to give her something grand; and this was very impressive when I opened the box. We will not be embarrassed to give this to her to show her our appreciation.

Disappointed

Like the Blessed Mother, even more beautiful in person. If you are putting together a home chapel, this representation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is an excellent place to begin. God bless.

Lovely statue.Attactive and well made.

I was looking for an inspiration to my garden where i have bought already my outdoor fountain. This pandemic is driving me insane that i could not do anything to go outside so just like last year, i am pretty sure i will spend most of my times in my garden. I am torn between a traditional Our Lady of the Gardens and Our Lady of Lourdes but this one caught my eye eventhough it is not in particular one i am looking for. I bought it anyways because of reasonable price for the height that i need outside. When it arrived, i literally cried. She is so beautiful. The exquisite details from the face to toes are something that i have never seen for a long time. While waiting for the warm weather when i am ready to build our gardens, she is in our main floor where my ornamental plants are. She looks fantastic with plants so i am pretty sure she will look more fantastic outside! I am excited to have her outside but at the same time I want to keep her also inside so i can see her all the time...Ave Maria!
