I was looking for a nail file that could easily fit in my purse, and that would be accepted by TSA. This one is it. The file is encrusted with sapphire dust and has a fine and a rough side. I also bought a longer one, but found this shorter one does a great job by itself. The file is sturdy, but the handle seems pretty thin. I decided that could be an advantage since it was lightweight and easy to pack. Despite being thin, it seems strong enough to hold while using the file. If you prefer a hefty handle, this one might not work for you. However, it really suits my purposes for a portable nail file. The handle is 2.5 inches long, and the blade extends out an additional 2 inches when it is unfolded.

I stopped biting my nails by filing the catch before I tried to bite it off. I've had several files over the years, and almost all are one piece with a cover. They are too long, or the cover comes off in my pocket and I get stabbed in the hand. I wish a pocket knife manufacturer (are you listening Victorinox?) you put a good file into a folding knife. Until they get that together, this is a very good substitute. Small, slim, stays folded, and coarse enough to do a good filing job.

I love the concept of this file. It opens and closes easily, and stays closed when you want it to. It is a great size to have in a pocket or purse. The main drawback is that both sides of the file are very coarse. If this had a fine grain file on one side, it would be perfect. Right now, it's too coarse and leaves my nail edge rough.

I like a file handy for the rough skin by my nails. The file on my Swiss Army knife is inadequate so I look for a good one which fits in my pocket. This one works great. It is coarse enough to do the job. I tried others which weren't aggressive enough. It's so small in my pocket it's easy to lose. I would buy it again.

I was expecting very high quality and durability for the extreme high price. It is very tiny and has lost its grit in a short amount of time. Do not purchase.

Great concept of a folding nail file. Nail files are always handy to have around but scratch things if not covered. Really wanted to like this. This one would do the job but is a little flimsy. Also scratched on file tip and has a defect in the grit. This is the 3rd one I have received scratched on the file tip. Have now separately ordered and returned 2 white and 1 black. Afraid the scratch would rust over time. Only received 1 out of 4 that were without defect. One also had a tarnished appearance on a portion of the file tip near scratch. Get the workmanship together and this could be a good product. Price is also a bit high for what it is...especially given quality.

The quality of Pfeilring nail files is always impressive. I own one of their larger files and loved it - with one exception. The file had only a coarse filing surface; it did not have a side that had a finishing grit. The pointed tip of the file portion is approximately 5/16” long; the actual filing surface is about 1 5/8” long. One side of this file is a coarse filing surface; the other is a fine grit, finishing surface. The folding mechanism moves on a small swivel hinge that moves smoothly and easily. Even though the file should last a long time, I cannot judge how durable the “hinge” mechanism will be.I am pleased with the “Pfeilring Germany Folding Sapphire Nail File-Travel Line”. It is the perfect size for your travel carryon or, when at home or work, for keeping in your bag or briefcase. If you are seeking a nice travel-sized nail file, you should consider this one.

Just what I wanted to be able to stash in my purse to have on hand when a nail needs to be filed. I will normally pick at my nails and they are a terrible mess usually. But with this and some clippers in my bag, I'm much more likely to try to take care of bumps and such in a more civilized manner. This little thing seems sturdy enough and I love that it folds up.
