Amazing SPF
I don’t usually write reviews but this product has left me so happy I feel obligated to share! I use a retinol, so SPF during the day is very important to protect my skin (and I would argue, is important for everyone to use) but they problem I kept having was I could not find a brand that didn’t break me out. I’ve been using this a couple of weeks now and it is AMAZING. A little goes a long way, it’s light, leaves a nice dewy finish on the skin and above all PROTECTS YOUR FACE AGAINST UV. It hasn’t caused any irritation on me, or broke me out so I am super pleased. I will continue to repurchase!

For UVA/ PPD, the best you can get
Considering the PPD of this sunscreen (which Altruist have made public) you really won't find a more cosmetically-elegant high-PPD sunscreen than this. 1. This is still a hardcore sunscreen; you WILL feel this on your skin; you WILL have dewy glow (that oily/combo skin may not enjoy and find "oily"); and it WILL leave a slight residue that you can feel hours later; however, you will have this with every single sunscreen with strong protection, and much, much more apparent. Altruist (and/or their manufacturing partner) have done an incredible job in creating this SPF. 2. This may have a very mild white cast on darker skin tones (when applied properly - half a teaspoon+) due to the titanium dioxide, but on my paler skin nothing's noticeable. 3. If you apply your SPF around and all over your eyes, like I do, you may find that this mildly irritates your eyes, but again this isn't a fault with the product. It contains octocrylene, a brilliant SPF and SPF-stabiliser, but it just can mildly irritate very sensitive skin and the eyes. While these all seem like negative points, I'm noting them to cover the simple truths about high-protection sunscreens. Anyone moving from their SPF primer or their SPF 25 (but no UVA) Day Cream may then comment that this suddenly feels heavier and more like sunscreen, but the simple fact is that currently for very high UVA (anti-aging) protection, in my opinion - this is the best sunscreen you could get.

There’s a lot to love
There’s a lot to love about Altruist SPF 50 Face Fluid: the high protection factor, it’s fragrance free, affordable price and it’s been developed by an expert in their field. The texture is very fluid, so spreads easily, however I find it still leaves a slight tacky layer on my oily/combination skin which I don’t get with the fluid-type SPF facial products by other well known French pharmacy brands. I also find it stings/makes my eyes watery if I get it too close to them (it does say to avoid the eye area mind). It’s definitely worth checking out, however I personally probably wouldn’t repurchase it.

Best Face Sunscreen I've ever used!!
I love this sunscreen! It was recommended to me by fellow users of Dermatica. The skin on my face has always been sensitive, but since using the treatment it has become more so. However, suncreme is essential when using it (and should be anyway 😬) from my very first use of this sunscreen I have not had any sensitivity! No stinging, no burning, no streaming eyes! It goes on so nicely- it's kind of like a creme but not thick. It's not runny either. An unexpected pro to this sunscreen was how good it made my makeup look! It is SUCH a great primer!! It looked like I had a full face of Charlotte Tilbury on! My makeup didn't crack and everything was waaay more hydrated. The lit from within glow was real! Would hiiiighly recommended. Also, when the time comes where we can actually not wear any sleeves (UK) I will definitely be purchasing this sunscreen for body. Also, great price!!!!

Excellent facial sunscreen
One of the best sunscreens I’ve used for the face - light, non-greasy, and absorbs quickly without leaving a white cast. Feels great on the skin, just a little on the expensive side.

Different every time
I’ve been buying this consistently for the last 2 years and every time I get it it’s a lottery as to what the consistency is going to be like. Sometimes it’s fluid as the name suggests, other times it’s fluid with lumps in it that block the hole and mean you end up wasting loads cause it shoots out when you squeeze it, and sometimes it’s completely congealed. Despite being a great product when it arrives as it should be, I’m afraid the constant inconsistency has turned me off and I won’t be buying again.

made me hate wearing sun cream
I don’t hate it - which is not what you really wanna hear about a skincare product. The issues are that it leaves the most ridiculous white cast on the face which gives the skin a weird pallid look all the time. The texture of the product feels quite greasy - almost curdled coming out the tube. I have no doubt it does the job of protecting the skin but I think there are far better options on the market.

Genuinely good product
I feel compelled to write this review after reading some bad ones. The important thing to remember is that every skin is different and while I absolutely love this product, this does not guarantee that others will have the same experience. I have tried many, absolute tons actually, of sunscreens since I've been using some topicals, it is hard to find a good mineral sunscreen that will do the job of protecting and moisturising (not drying) your skin, with very high UVA protection, which does not pill, does not leave a white cast, and which does not sting when being applied. I find that this product ticks all the boxes for me, it feels lovely and moisturising on the skin (I have a combination skin and it feels good all over); it doesn't smell, it does not leave a white cast, it applies well (milky lotion-like consistency), it is enriched with vitamin E which is an added bonus and I honestly think that this is the one for me to stick to going forward. Also, the price is great, it's very affordable and if you are serious about protecting your skin, you know that you will be using absolute tons of sunscreen, so finding something that will not break your bank but actually works is a winner for me.

Made in Germany,

I was told to try this by my British dermatologist as I have a rare skin condition (well several!). This is nice and light. It gives the required ‘whiteness’ to the skin then sinks in without rubbing. I was using the normal body one for a while as I need factor 50+. A lot of people do not know they need UVA & UVB. Altruist has both. Plus it supports a great children’s charity. I love the shape of the bottle and size. Especially as I travel a lot. It’s a good shape. It’s usable in winter also as the rays are as bad but not as intense. I generally don’t need to reapply throughout the day as I’m out for 5 ish hours and not in direct sunlight.
