I love this stand but the base pole holder isn’t holding the pole properly and it falls forward which ever way the pole bends, could it be a flaw?

I screwed the pole into the base by hand, and never had this problem. Did you screw it in with the threads misaligned? Mine is heavy, solid, and completely rigid.

Is the base able to be removed and reattached?

Yes it can be detached but I don’t know how you could use it without the base. There is no option for it to be clipped on something. This holder is the best I’ve ever owed and I purchased a second one. If the base isn’t your issue you won’t be disappointed.
