I have mixed feelings about the Thermacell I bought to use at our cabin in Ontario, Canada a week ago. This time of year, the mosquitoes and biting flies have voracious appetites for blood and I felt the need to try something besides a spray with DEET on my skin that never feels particularly healthy or safe, but you have little choice other than wearing a body suit and face covering of netted material if you don't want to be eaten alive. I had to clean the outhouse back in the woods after many months of it not being used, an unpleasant job at best, but made even worse by relentless biting mosquitoes and flies. I set up the Thermacell 10 minutes before I started cleaning and it really did work and kept the pests away for the 30 minutes I was in the woods. I also used this repeller while sitting out near the lake and the flies left me alone.My problem with using the Thermacell is related to the warnings in the packaging. There's a lot of wildlife that visit our property-- from great blue herons to black and red squirrels, chipmunks, birds, raccoons, etc., and I had an uneasy feeling that the residue or whatever chemicals emitted from the repeller might adversely affect them as it disperses and perhaps lands on the vegetation they eventually may come in contact with in the 15 foot radius it covers while the Thermacell is working. I called the company before using it and asked the woman who answered my call whether I could eat and drink around the Thermacell and she said it should be okay, but when I read the warnings on the package later, although eating and drinking isn't mentioned, I can't believe it'd be safe considering all the other warnings. So I don't feel very trusting of this product and will probably only use it when I'm desperate.

My pitbull mix has always loved being outside as often as possible. A few years ago we were visiting my grandmother. There was a huge bee hive and we had to call a beekeeper. He came and took the hive and the queen bee. He told us the worker bees were going to be real angry for a few days. "Real angry"? That's an understatement. You couldn't go outside, front or back without bees haunting you. We couldn't keep my dog from going out to potty and he got stung. Multiple times.And that's how his PTSD started. The amount of times I've wished I just kept him home that weekend... Even years later every time he's outside and hears/sees/feels a flying bug he goes crazy and can't stop thinking about it. Even invisible ones... Looking all around, going in circles, checking his back/butt/belly/feet over and over again until someone runs him inside!! He couldnt enjoy the outdoors and neither could i without my best bud out there. Thermacell makes it manageable again. I lay a blanket down which minimizes him feeling blades of grass and thinking somethings crawling on him, and put the thermacell next to him. He can relax and even sleep OUTSIDE! It's amazing. He can get up and go play and run around our 6+ acres and then go back and lay in the safe zone.Thank you thermacell

I bought one of these last year, in May. Worked fine (as long as you remember to turn it on a few minutes BEFORE you go out) and definitely kept me bite free last summer. Refills are a bit expensive. BUT, it just died. Won't come on no matter what I try. I expected it to last more than one year, so I'm rather disappointed. Be nice if the manufacturer included the life span of the unit in their description. I'm going to nudge them. I'll update this if I get a response.Update 6/28/19: I upgraded my rating to 5 stars. I contacted the mfr and they said they would fix or replace it. They were polite and responsive and answered all my questions promptly. I did have to pay the return shipping (less than $5.00), but I received what appears to be a brand new unit today. I haven't gotten a single mosquito bite since I started using this product and mosquitoes LOVE me. Works better for me than anything else I've tried.

Giving it four stars because I cannot personally attest to knowing if it works...I bought this for our ranch house, with relatively large family gatherings - especially now with hunting season just starting, most of us spend time outside on the patio to watch the game or just talk. Being is south texas we find ourselves plagued by mosquitoes - I'm the kind who gets giant welts when bit so I always spray mosquito repellent on me... - I wanted to find something to help keep everyone bite free without the smell of bug spray. Amazon reviews and google brought me to the thermacell. I set it out for a few minutes before everyone got settled outside, and no one was complaining or itching! Even the usuals who don't spray bug spray because they only get bit a few times, had no sign of being bit this time! Solid product.

A friend of mine who camps frequently recommended this product. We love to sit on the back deck but have a lot of mosquitoes and get eaten alive certain times of the year. Hate putting on spray and I've never had luck with any other devices including a very expensive mosquito magnet. The MR150 was on sale for under twenty bucks so I decided to give it a try though I was highly skeptical. We've used it multiple times now with excellent results. For example, we had 6 friends over last night, outside for 3-4 hours and nobody got bitten. I simply turn it on and put near the umbrella stand under our table a few minutes before we go outside. In terms of coverage area, our deck is against the house and we generally sit in roughly a 15x12 space on one side of the deck. I'm super pleased to finally have something that works for us. Just ordered a refill pack!

Ich habe mir das Gerät aufgrund positiver Beurteilungen gekauft. Ich kann diese Beurteilungen nur bestätigen. Da ich mich sehr viel am Wasser aufhalte, musste ich bisher immer unter einem Fliegengitter sitzen - was bei großer Hitze manchmal sehr unangenehm war (Luftzirkulation). Außerdem keine freie Sicht. Dank ThermaCELL kann ich mich jetzt endlich frei bewegen. Die Stechmücken werden zuverlässig abgehalten. Ich kann dieses Gerät uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

habe das Gerät erst einmal ausprobiert, da hat es eigentlich ganz gut funktioniert. Allerdings ist es nicht geruchslos wie vom Hersteller gepriesen. Der Geruch hat im Gegenteil manche am Tisch so gestört dass wir es irgendwann abgedreht haben.

Ce produit ne fonctionne pas du tout !! après l'avoir mis en route, il y avait autant de moustiques tigres autour de nous que sans appareil. Il annonce jusqu'à 20m², même avec l'appareil sur moi, je me faisais piquer. De plus la pastille bleu dure tout au plus 2h alors que c'est annoncé 4h !!Alors il est vrai que c'est indiqué "100% satisfait ou remboursé" mais en ayant jeté l'emballage, je n'ai pas d'autre choix que de me dire que j'ai perdu 36 € sur ce produit complètement inefficace !!
