a brilliant synthesis
A compelling update of the field of comparative literature. As the field has been the subject of polemics and unending discussions in the last years, Ben Hutchinson's approach conveys a clear and updated state of the art and offers a wide view of all the important tendencies in the field as well as a comprehensive insight of how it may evolve and what it will likely become. very

Textually promiscuous...
Writer claims that professors of comparative literature are textually promiscuous and culturally curious. But, to be fair, university has always been the place where one experiments with one’s textuality.

Outstanding
This is by far the most concise and brilliant introduction to comp lit I've read. It effortlessly catapults the discipline into the 21st century, and once and for all leaves an outdated Euro-centric conceptualization of the discipline still occasionally found in some universities behind. A must-read for anyone thinking about studying comp lit.
