The tray isn’t really sturdy enough to hold anything but brushes which may or may have not been the intentions not sure but I do love the stand itself

OK for Beginners
I only gave this item 4 stars because it showed up broken. Not bad but a small flimsy piece of thin plastic, which holds the top of the canvas in place, was broken. I was able to fix the break, and actually strengthen and improve the item, but I shouldn't have had to, at least not right away. The flimsy piece of plastic would have probably broken after the first time it was used.Anyway, not a bad item for a beginner to use.Quick service and prompt shipping.

Light, but not sturdy
The easel is easy to setup, and can easily be adjusted for height. Unfortunately if you are doing any kind of heavy handed technique it is easy to knock around and the grip on the canvas is easily dislodged. It works best for water colors and other delicate mediums where a firm touch is not the goal. The tray is very light duty I wouldn't use it for any more than resting a brush on it. The bottom grip also covers the bottom edge of the canvas depending on how you afix your canvasses. It isn't all bad though, as it packs up quickly and can be transported with included bag easily.

Great easel, easy set up
This was much better than my wooden tri pod, one bc of the rubber feet plus the telescoping legs can be shutdown to table top size as well. It took me a few minutes to figure out to slide the holding rack into the space so I can shrink it for smaller painting like 5-8 inchesI did manage to break a piece of a slide within 4 minutes of receiving it. However it didn’t affect the working. And for $20 what can you ask? I’d seen others like this for 2-3x the amount

Easy to assemble! My 12 year old loves the fact that it's easy to set up, move around and that it came with it's own traveling bag!
