From Fear to Faith (Revised) Paperback – January 1, 2002

I love all of Merlin Carothers books. They are so uplifting & enlightening in how to walk by faith and not by sight. I recommend any of his books to anyone.

I went through a really tough time in my life where serious false accusations were made against me. I battled the most extreme fear I have ever encountered in my life. From Fear To Faith gave me the tools to start to turn my Fear into Faith. I found the confidence and the Joy that comes through Faith and through Praising God in all circumstances. This book as well as "From Prison to Praise" and "Bringing Heaven into Hell" by Merlin R. Carothers helped me deal with the uncertainty of what I FEARED my future could hold. The book helped to REMIND ME to trust that God was (and is) in complete control of my life situation - no matter how horrific it may seem to me. It helped me to Praise God even through the storm and to cling to the fact the Bible tells me - that he will never leave me nor forsake me - and he never has.Paul and Silas were thrown into prison and THEY SANG PRAISES UNTO TO GOD! Even in their dire circumstances they knew God was in control. Now that's an example of REAL FAITH; when you have NO FEAR from life circumstances and can sing Praises unto God while locked up in prison!Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book: We live by fear or by faith, and the one we choose makes all the difference in the world.The Bible tells us 365 times not to be afraid. God wants to encourage us to be fearless. He also wants us to know how dangerous and destructive fear can be.Faith inspires us to be bold for God.Faith gives us confidence to do what needs to be done. Faith motivates and strengthens us. It stimulates, challenges, and gives us courage to persevere and overcome.Faith enables us to be joyful whatever our circumstances may be.The Bible declares: Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might (Eph 6:10)God has convinced me that fear of any kind can be eliminated by faith.We Christians can lose spiritual battles because we let a spirit of defeat (fear) control our actions rather than stand on Gods promises. Once we learn to trust God, He will use whatever people do FOR US, - OR AGAINST US - to move us to His (Gods) chosen place. Remember the verse: God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19) Nothing - absolutely nothing - can happen without His knowledge. Our faith in His absolute control over ALL Things defeats all kinds of fear.Are you backed into a corner with some problem? Do you feel alone and helpless? Jesus promised, Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matt. 28:20)Fear tries to discourage us, whispering, "you are alone and helpless." Faith, however, comforts us, assuring, "God is with me!" Think, believe, and declare the victory in Christ - victory like winning the championship: Victory over every problem and every disease.I highly recommend all the books written by Merlin R. Carothers. Read them, apply the knowledge to your life and you will be blessed!

I read Power in Praise many years ago. It was a great book so I decided to purchase this one. Merlin begins this book by talking about his time in the military, and as an army veteran, it hit a note with me. I had no idea about his experiences in the military, and this book brought to light the difficult experiences he had while serving. He speaks from a place of knowledge and more importantly from faith. In one section he discussed anxiousness, and how this feeling blocks his ability to hear God. I decided then while on an airplane for a trip to focus on letting go of being anxious and instead focus on knowing that God would take care of anything I needed. It was perfect timing as all the details of how I would get to where I needed to be over the week were not yet well defined. That generally isn't how I roll. Each time my mind would begin to think about my next step, I would tell it to stop and believe all was taken care of. I had an amazing week! At no point was a I stranded or worried. In fact, there were so many people along the way offering to help that I knew God was answering. Fear is a part of the human experience. Merlin provides tools to help turn fear into faith in this book. Before I read this, I thought I had moved past a lot of my fear. The truth is, my faith in Jesus has helped me greatly in this regard in many areas, but I am not completely out of the woods yet. This book helped me realize that my anxiousness is also a manifestation of my fear. Now when I begin to feel anxious, I remember Merlin's words and use it as a cue to remind myself that God is in control and that he will take care of all I need. There is a lot more in this book and still it is a quick read. Too quick. I just ordered two more of his books.

I have struggled for years fearing almost everything, this book has taught me that I have much to be thankful for and that if I have the faith I can overcome all fear. Didn't happen overnight, but I am learning to be less fearful.

Read the Merlin Carothers books in the 80's and they are even more relevant today.
