Good series, interesting concepts
I love the author's Immortal Guardian books! I have about 10 of them on my Kindle Reader. Her characters are usually pretty complex and fleshed out. I like the concept of immortal beings hiding among us, protecting us from vampires--people who were infected by the same virus they were but didn't have the special genes needed to keep them sane and whole. Romance, fighting, and alien shenanigans, too, for good measure. It might seem incongruous, but it works.

Sweet and Exciting
My ThoughtsThis is the first book in the series that is not centered in North Carolina, thus introducing us to a couple new characters and giving us a glimpse into how the rest of the immortals guardians understand the Ami/Marcus/Adira situation. Now that Gershom is out of the picture, we are brought a new story about friends becoming more and complications from a greedy man searching for a fountain of youth.Audiobook NoteAs always Kirsten Potter is excellent at bringing this book to vibrant life.About the CharactersNick is so respectful that he robs himself of time he could have had with Kayla. He's almost inept at approaching her as more than a friendly neighbor until the decision is taken out of his hands. Kayla is resilient as a lot of unbelievable information is thrown at her all at once. She also thinks fast and is resourceful in a dangerous situation. Eliana is a fun personality. She's a loyal friend and tries to play wingman for Nick with Kayla. She's teasing and almost bubbly without being obnoxious.Things I LikedThe immortals' world is all about family and community and that really shines through here. That very community brings some familiar faces to Texas. Kayla has a grown daughter that brings a little extra fun to the table. I love when she walks in on Nick and Kayla sleeping. Nick is adorably awkward as he attempts to navigate the daughter situation. I would love to see more of her.Thing I Didn't LikeThe story felts a tad slow at first, though it got intense and moved quickly once that changed. The conflict makes sense, but felt almost over the top. It is also unclear just how connected to the military our bad guy is. That is likely a doorway for new challenges now that there's no more Gershom.More ThoughtsI wonder if Becca was told anything and if she noticed any changes in her mother. Nick is cute and a little old fashioned normally, but in the bedroom he turns a bit commanding and gruffer than we've previously seen, though not by much. I would love to have seen more of his shifting, but I am a shifter addict. While we get some familiar characters from previous books, and I like the idea of meeting new ones from other places, it's still a little off putting to be in a different setting than the last 9 books.Does it stand alone?Yes actually. Dianne Duvall always does a good job of reintroducing the basics of the world and relaying relavant information as necessary. Add to that the fact we start fresh story arc wise and relocate from the previous books and this actually stands alone very well.Bottom LineOverall, I liked Broken Dawn as it was sweet and exciting. Getting to know Eliana a little better before we read her story made me very antsy for more.

Awesome!
Book source ~ Purchased (also was a review request, but I forgot I had already pre-ordered it)Nick Belanger has the hots for his next door neighbor, Kayla Dorman. He’d ask her out and hope she says yes, except he’s an Immortal Guardian and his life is all about killing vampires to protect the humans who are unaware of what goes bump in the night. Not only is he something she would find hard to believe, but she has a daughter he doesn’t want to put in danger. Well, he doesn’t want to put either one in danger, but now that the biggest threat in his world has been eliminated and her daughter is off to college, maybe he could tell her about his feelings. Maybe?Kayla has always had the hots for Nick, but he’s a handsome single guy and she’s a single mom. Plus, he’s never shown any interest in her so she accepts and enjoys his friendship over the years. Their relationship is suddenly redefined after a near tragedy and Kayla is thrown into his world. What was once hands off becomes all hands on deck as the two really get to know each other. But a new danger is lurking in their Texas city and Nick will need to call in the Immortal Guardians from North Carolina when the shizzle hits the fan.Anyone who has been following me over the years knows how much I love the Immortal Guardians. I devour each book as soon as it comes out. And now there’s a spinoff series called the Aldebarian Alliance that is just as yummy to nom on. Broken Dawn does a good job of standing alone even though it is the 10th book in the series. You can read it and not be lost if you haven’t read the books that came before. However, I don’t know why anyone would want to miss out on so many books with awesome characters, kickass action, snappy dialogue, humor, hot sexiness, and paranormal wonders. Why would you do that to yourself? No, I asked you a question. WHY?! Go sit in a corner and think about that.Seriously, if you love your paranormal romance with lots of action, humor, multi-layered characters, and hot naked time set in a well-developed world then look no further.

A Paranormal Romance That Had Me Hooked.
I'm already a big fan of Dianne Duvall's books and have read all of them. Although Broken Dawn is book 10 in her Immortal Guardians series, it felt like a new beginning. I was drawn into this story and remained hooked throughout.I love Dianne's writing style, the language she uses and the way she paces her plots. There's always a natural balance throughout the story between the mystery, fighting and violent scenes and the humorous, romantic and passionate ones. Her characters, both main and supporting, are well thought out, with a range of personalities without being stereotypical. Therefore, they feel real and believable, despite most of them being supernatural. Kayla, our female protagonist, was perfect. She displayed all the traits that I need a leading lady to have: resilience, intelligence and gumption. She's not a badass warrior but her inner strength is undeniable and I loved her witt.I added the narration by Kristen Potter who has narrated Dianne's other books. As usual, Kristen's performance was excellent and conveyed just what the story needed, when it was needed. Kristen has a knack for voices. The difference accents she uses for Dianne’s characters brings them to life in my ear!The Immortal Guardians team based in North Carolina will always hold a special place in my heart. I loved seeing the cameos from them in Broken Dawn. However, I really liked that I am getting to know the Immortal Guardians, Gifted Ones and Network humans elsewhere. I'm looking forward to reading a story or two about the European headquarters. *hint*hint* Dianne. ;-)

Aww. Feel good paranormal romance
No plot spoilers. No potential triggers.I loved this book, Nick is one of the lesser known characters, from the Texas IG's. The characterisation is excellent, I think I fell for him in the first chapter! Kayla is strong and independent, a really good FL with no angst ridden pages of indecision. There are no grammatical or editorial errors that I can recall. There are some sex scenes each of them appropriate and loving.Best of all the author discloses that Cliff will be getting his own story! Can't wait for that one.
