Mopar 10 Year/150,000 Mile Coolant 50/50 Premixed Review: Quality OEM O.A.T. Coolant (DO NOT MIX WITH H.O.A.T or other coolant types) - Bought this for our newer family of Chrysler vehicles to replace the coolant. It says it's rated for 10 years or 240,000km (150,000 miles) but this is if you completely change the coolant every time and as time goes on the additives in the coolant are used up and also fall out of suspension. What is easier to do is change your coolant every 5 years or 120,000km (75,000 miles) but just empty the radiator (or approximately 1/2 of the cooling system's capacity). This way, by the 10 year mark or the full mileage you have completely changed the coolant in the system without having to flush the system and/or completely drain it. This also helps to prevent air pockets, and from the system burping and using up all the coolant in the overflow bottle when a full change is performed. It also is better to do it this way because you are refreshing 1/2 of the cooling system's additives keeping the corrosion protection at its freshest to protect your radiator, water pump, and things like head gaskets and thermostats so they operate properly with no mineral or rust build-up. It has served our family well doing it this way. We keep our vehicles way past when others do, and we have never had a cooling system related failure. Yup, no water pumps, radiators, hoses, nothing and the vehicles are 20 years old with 300,000 miles (500,000km) when they get retired! Remember, if you look after your vehicle, your vehicle will look after you! Another note here... Around 2012/2013 Chrysler changed from Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (H.O.A.T.) coolant to Organic Acid Technology (O.A.T.) and mixing the two coolants will result in sludge forming in the cooling system. You can use this newer coolant in older cooling systems if you completely drain, flush with water, and then refill with this coolant only, but DO NOT mix this with the older coolant as a top-off type situation. You also CAN NOT use H.O.A.T. in cooling systems after 2012/2013 when the switch over happened because H.O.A.T coolants are not compatible with all the materials found in the cooling systems in later vehicles and leaks may start to form in your heater cores etc. where they are soldered together. So be sure to buy only the correct coolant your car needs. If you aren't sure, consult your owners manual or see a DODGE/CHRYSLER/JEEP dealer for details. Also if you aren't using this Pre-mixed version of the coolant mixed to 50/50% and you are using their straight coolant you need to dilute it with 40-50% de-ionized, demineralized water so it's non-conductive. That is why it's easier to just buy this pre-mix which is good for pretty well all cold and hot temperatures experienced in North America (some exceptions of course).
