On the same shelf with Greg Bear, Larry Niven, Robert Heinlein, and H.G. Wells!
I’ve been a fan of this series of books since I first picked up Quantum Space a few years ago, and once again Douglas Phillips has hit a home run with Quantum Time, the 3rd book in this series.Hard Science Fiction is my home base, but instead of the typical “world building, interstellar travel, fighting an alien race” story, I’ve always enjoyed novels that use the science as a backdrop to tell a very human tale. Phillips builds a cast of strong characters, then frames them in a challenge where reality is no longer exactly what we think it is… and suddenly you find yourself on a ride of exploration. As a reader, it makes me think of adventures I’d had as a kid. Where I didn’t yet understand all the rules of the world, I wanted to know more, and found myself both astounded and confused when presented with something I didn’t understand. The Quantum Time series –all three books– have forced me to stop reading during parts of the story and say “no way… is that real science, or is he taking liberties here?” Then I’d be off to the web for an hour reading about the weird, weird world quantum physics, only to come back and go “yep, that was real science.” Well played, sir.Douglas Phillips has hooked the 7 year old explorer in the back of my head with a time-travel tale explained by science that entices my 53 year old brain, and does the impossible: he tells it with a storyteller voice and takes us to a frightfully possible future. I am all in!This book is so many things to me. It’s “The Girl, The Gold Watch & Everything,” it’s “The Door Into Summer,” it’s “11/22/63,” it’s “Eon.” It’s firmly on the same shelf with Greg Bear, Larry Niven, Robert Heinlein, and H.G. Wells. It’s witty and intelligent, fast moving, and uniquely visual in the sense that I wish it were a movie.(Hey, Hollywood… Stop with the remakes and try this on!)It’s compelled me, surprised me, and they are so good that I’ve actually re-read the first two books already.Stop thinking about it. Buy this book. But you gotta start with Book 1: Quantum Space.

A compelling story within time travel speculation
Douglas Phillips writes about quantum discoveries, theories and speculations. He creates great plots and characters to drive his speculations in amazing directions. This book is fast paced, and for me it was a fun read.

Amazing Science
I really liked the description of the time science throughout the book. The characters were developed well. The storyline unfolded with a few surprises. Just a fun read.

Gripping, entertaining, and mind expanding
As with Mr. Phillips other novels this one has a beginning and end with really interesting characters interspersed. But what I most enjoyed is learning new science. Knowing the terms he uses in his novels are real things…and he explains them so well.Thank you and keep up the good work.

Good ending to the series.
I like the undercurrent of almost comic drama, in this series, as the main character gets into even more serious difficulties as he proceeds. You're reminded of the phrase. " another fine mess you've gotten into". However, the solutions remain focused, serious and scientific, like our hero. even if the villains are a bit cardboard cut out. The Father character had enough depth going for him to avoid farce, was suitably malignent yet theocratically justified such that you could almost give him credence. Almost, but the Bin Laden like images mixed with his handmaid's tale like dystopian future was enough to trigger your basic instinct to want to 'see the b**d burn"! Which he does, inevitably, though the science behind that was a bit hokey. As was the ability of his past self to cobble up a quantum compression displacement portal in his bedroom, enabling him to drop his hands or body into any location at will. Such an easily constructed artefact, used extensively in the 2nd novel but requiring a particle acellerator, would surely lead to a world of chaos, but his source of this power is only alluded to by inference to the future cause, present effect loop paradox. No secret Chinese or dodgy Romanian accelerator this time round. It might have been fun to drag agent Griffith along to the future, his 'men in black' demeanour conjured up an appealing image of Tommy Lee Jones, but ultimately our hero is a loner, he's not the buddy type. A good romp overall, plenty of room for another adventure if the author has the quantum energy left. I enjoyed all three adventures in these trying times. 4 star, and I'll watch the movie!

Great blend of science & science fiction
I have enjoyed the entire Quantum series! Douglass Phillips creates compelling science fiction stories that also educate the reader of current scientific theories related to the quantum realm! I had especially hard time putting this book down

A nice conclusion to this trilogy
I just got finished reading QT and just like the first two books, when I reached about 80% of the book being read, I couldn't put it down until it was finished. Phillips writes real page turners with every one of his books containing a very fast paced storyline. I wasn't sure how he was going to tie all of the loose ends of this story together, but he did so very well, in a tight, secure knot. His afterword made my head hurt - again, but that's because my feeble brain can't wrap itself around some of the story content and I know it would help if I studied physics more while in school. I expected this story to be not as good as the first two books because of some of its reviews, but instead, I found it just as readable and enjoyable, and certainly, as well written. Readers thinking Phillips was writing about current events were reading too much into the contents. Sure, maybe he was influenced by what is happening in our country currently, but if so, there is nothing wrong with adding that to the storyline. In my opinion though, it was simply one way out of many that this story could have turned, and I found nothing offensive in his writing. 5 stars.

Fun with time
A pleasant read, l enjoyed the author's take on time travel and the characters in the story. I think this is supposed to be a 20+ word review.

Excellent read. Right up my street.
I continue to be impressed with this series, and especially this volume. Douglas Phillips continues to be inventive with his use of string theory as a backdrop to the storyline, this time applying his compression premise to time as well as space, and it worked for me. Unlike with some of the other time travel books I've read, I actually understood and could accept the way he dealt with the paradoxes involved. I've probably learned as much about cosmology/quantum mechanics by reading a work of fiction than by reading one of the so-called factual accounts! Looking forward to the next in the seris.

Awesome but..
The storyline in the book is akin to author's trademark smorgasbord of a great stotyline, relatable characters, thrilling pace along with the icing of scientific concepts presented in layman's language. However, in this book, I got lost on multiple occasions as the story dwelled into the realms of time travelling era. Time travel does tend to have that effect.Nevertheless, a recommend read if you have finished the first two of the series within a couple of weeks like me :)

Very good final entry to the Quantum series
While as enjoyable as the 2 previous entries, Quantum Time differs a bit in tone, with a bona fide villain this time around (you'll get that pun later :-)). The same main characters are back, with the main protagonist involved in a time travel adventure. The plot will keep you guessing, and as far as time-traveling shenanigans go, this book is pretty original. Overall it's a good story with good pacing. The only bad part is that I'm afraid we won't get to be involved again in a Daniel Rice adventure...

schwieriges Thema
Hat keinen Einfluss auf meine Bewertung, brachte mich aber zum schmunzeln:sex on the beach, Dame oben: "keeps the sand out"
