Like a charm
I got this for an 8 day backpacking trip through Alaska wilderness. Did it work. Like a charm. Did I look ridiculous, absolutely. Did I care? Nope. Everyone who didn't have a mosquito net for their head while we trekked through certain parts of Alaska were literally cursing as they were flocked by mosquitos and bugs. Good quality mosquito head net that kept bugs from flying directly into my face, eyes, nose, mouth.

Depends on what you need this for.
I spend four months each year on an island in the Gulf of Mexico. When it's warm and humid with no wind, the no-see-ums could eat you alive. I purchased this head net with the optional insect shield because of the great reviews. My results were mixed.Pros:Great size. Even wearing a decent sized hat, the net is big enough and long enough to fit down into my shirt. 5 stars. For mosquitoes and flies it's great. 5 starsThe net can be cinched at the neck. 5 starsCons:The Permethrin insect shield did not work. I had stuff crawling around on the net in front of my face, and that was with the first use. 0 stars.Effectiveness for no-see-ums: helped but did not eliminate them. Many have gotten through and bit me. In fairness, they are really small. Perhaps only glass would work. 2 stars.

Small life saver on the Pacific Crest Trail.
This thing was great. I started later than most, May 18. Don't listen to those who say don't bring it in the desert (Mt. Laguna shake down). Several of us ran into places where flies and gnat critters would dive bomb your nostrils and eyeballs in the desert. This was wonderful to have. Not a whole lot to say as it is small light, and does the job of keeping bugs out of your face.I even slept cowboy style a few times while wearing it and it was effective (while wearing hat). You do need a hat as pictured to keep it off your skin/face. Bugs will bite you through it if it lays on your skin anywhere. It was easy to see through and I didn't notice any heat being trapped. Wore it in the desert, Northern California and Oregon. Didn't really need for Washington when I got there.

FANTASTIC. LONG ENOUGH TO TUCK INTO COLLAR.
This is a great net. The mesh is soft. The net fits over a hat and is long enough to tuck into your shirt collar such that it stays in. Bought this for a bug-o-phobe who loves the outdoors but hates (hates!) bugs. He's going on a 30-day backpacking trip. He's looked forward to it, but he relaxed and got excited for the first time when he tried on the net and realized it was comfortable and functional and that he won't have bugs in his face for a month. The fact that something so affordable can change a bug-o-phobe's entire outlook about an expensive journey is worth 10 stars. It's also worth noting that he will travel with an organization that is a long-time leader in outdoor excursions. On their list of REQUIRED items is a mosquito net. To me, that makes it essential for anyone, which means I want a nice one. This net qualifies. If you agree that a net is essential, I recommend this one.

Great product
I work outside and have to sit or stand still many times and kept getting annoyed by the bugs. I saw someone with one of these and thought to try it out. I do not regret this purchase. When i leave the building i put this over my wide brim bush hat, snug up the elastic and enjoy a bug free job. Yes i do get a ton of giggles from people as i look a bit like a beekeeper looking for my hive but i never have to be annoyed by any bug ever (at least around my head). The only down side i have with this product (but not enough of a problem to remove a star) is that due to the nature of the tight netting it does block the breeze so you do get warmer inside than without. It does not block all wind but light breeze is blocked. Another bonus with this product is that it is a dark material so it does add a bit of shade. I like that it fits well over my hat so I dont have to have the net right on my face. There is a smell when first used but it does lessen over time. It is probably the bug killer infused in the net.

I bought this to take along for a 2 week ...
I bought this to take along for a 2 week hike along the John Muir Trail. Netting was very light and when I hit the first valley that had mosquito's swarming, I quickly grabbed the head netting! Kept the mosquito out and that was most important! I had a hat on with a full bring all the way around. Netting fit without a problem and was long enough to go down and cover my neck area. I literally had 8-10 mosquito's sitting on the netting by my face all the time. I would swat them away and more would jump on even though I was hiking at a full pace. None got in!

These things are awesome
These are so awesome. I use them all the time when I'm hunting for mushrooms. Great for when the ticks or mosquitoes are plentiful.Works best with a hat.The permethrin treatment is a very useful feature. If you are worried that you'll look silly wearing it, rest assured, when the mosquitoes are bad enough that you need a head net, anyone not wearing a head net is so concerned with not having mosquitoes bite their eyelids and lips that they only look at you with jealous awe. Same with the job site. Folks see you and they're like "where can i get one?!"With a one of these, you can hike or work when the bugs are so bad everyone else is hiding inside. With one of these things your only problem will be not having enough for whoever goes hiking with you. They'll be running for the car and you'll both be wishing you bought a spare.

A Hiking Necessity
A must-have hiking during black-fly season. I bought one of these years ago and lost it this year. My replacement came just before our season-opener overnight hike. Easy to see through so you can clearly watch your buddies who didn't buy one struggle with gnats, flies and mosquitoes that dive-bomb every opening on their heads. Best to wear with a boonie or billed cap to keep it away from your face by a few inches.

On the head mate!
Small and light but ready to go as soon as those little buzzers show their face! I used this for a couple of days camping and especially over night I was really thankful I got one!Recommended!

Gute Funktion

Top marks - small and light when packed, durable and effective when worn.
Light and breezy but still durable, I've wore over several weekends of camping and hiking. It's held up well - no tears whatsoever - and I haven't been bitten by any bugs. They don't even seem interested in landing on it, supporting the notion that Permethrin treatment repels and/or kills them.It packs down remarkably small, storing in the included, plum-sized stuff bag.I wear it with a quick-dry, baseball-style cap instead the Tilley style shown in the photos and this was enough to keep it off my face and skin.I won't go near the woods without this head net anymore.

Tut einfach was es soll
Ich bin also sehr zufrieden damit.
