Nice sturdy vise but coating is non conductive
The vise holds parts plenty tight enough and is easy to use. I only have 1 con: 1 the bolt spacing to mount the vise is not compatible with my 3018 pro solid aluminum bed. I ended up drilling and tapping a hole in my bed so I could bolt it down secure enough. The pre existing holes are 54mm center to center and that falls in between 2 of the mounting holes. If you have the slotted bed then it bolts right up using the slots. Not a huge deal to overcome for me but would be nice if they added 4 total holes instead of 3 to mount it to different beds. V rails would have been nice so the clamping pieces can't lift while tightening it down but for the price and the machine it's going on , It's probable more accurate. Overall I really like the quality and functionality of this vise and would recommend to anyone wanting a better clamping solution for milling on a 3018 or similar cnc.

Good value, but one screw is not enough.
Well-designed and solid enough for use with my Anolex 3030 Evo Pro with a1.5kw spindle. Holes are spaced at 45 and 90 mm, so are perfect for this machine. A good design feature is the independent jaw which can be locked down, helping eliminate problems with loosening due to vibration *mostly*. I have had problems with stock working loose which I attribute to the single-screw design, and I am afraid to crank on it too hard lest I strip something out. I have added and tapped two additional holes toward either end, so now I have three screws which I am confident will give me the additional grip I need. A good value for the money.

Great addition for 3018-SE!
I'm so glad I got this low profile vice for my FoxAlien 3018-SE! It is so much easier to clamp my workpieces with this. The little individual clamps which come with the 3018 can be a hassle to put on, plus they can get in the way of the spindle. I've seen several people who have fried their MOSFET on the controller board when their spindle crashed into one of their clamps. With this mini-vise, there are no protruding bolts above the workpiece. It also allows me to engrave small pieces of wood from edge to edge, since it clamps from the sides, instead of above. The 3018 CNCs have a fairly short Z-axis, so no regular vise would work. I had to loosen my spindle clamp and raise my spindle as high as it would go. I thought the price was a little high, but once I got it and used it, I realized you're paying for quality. It's machined from a solid piece of aluminum and everything fits very well. I highly recommend it, especially if you're just getting into CNC, it takes away a lot of the hassle of clamping your material down. Plus, it gets rid of the risk of running the spindle into the clamps.

Excellent Low-Profile Vise — Perfect for Custom CNC Setups
Design & Functionality: The low-profile design is exactly what you want for CNC work. It holds material securely without getting in the way of the toolpath, which makes a big difference when carving detailed parts. Holding Power: For its size, this vise grips surprisingly well. Once tightened, stock stays put without shifting, even during longer carving jobs. Custom MDF Integration: I mounted this vise into a custom MDF container I built specifically for my work table, and it fits perfectly. This made alignment easy, keeps everything square, and gives me a clean, repeatable setup. I’ve attached photos to show how well it integrates — it’s a great option if you like building custom fixtures or jigs. Build Quality: The vise feels solid and well-machined. Movement is smooth, tolerances are good, and it inspires confidence when clamping smaller pieces. Bottom Line: If you’re using a FoxAlien 3018 (or similar small CNC) and want a reliable, low-profile vise that works great in custom fixtures, this is an excellent choice. Simple, sturdy, and very effective. Highly recommended.

Pros and cons
1) It can only be placed in vertical position in the masuter pro extension. 2) should have a precise zero repetition layout option for big production on small pieces 3) it could have self x axis centering mechanism Other than that it feels easy to use and feels steady and well made. Non cheap

Great addition to small desktop mill
Great little unit, solid construction, light weight, several mounting options.

Quality vice, good value
I use this vice a lot for machining with my foxalien WM 3020, pairs well with the CNC, 6M bolts right in place, although the t nuts sometimes loosen and fall out under the machine due to vibration and they’re not easy to get back into place so I would definitely suggest using thread lock on those, I’ve actually replaced the tints with threaded inserts instead, they’re just much easier to adjust if necessary. The elephant in the room would be.. is it really low profile? While it fits, I think it stands 40mm tall and the actual cutting area of the Z axis on my machine is only 70mm therefore not a lot of room to work with, however when paired with a ultra low profile z probe (mine being only 1.53mm thick) it’s just enough to squeeze by. If I wanted to save some money I probably could have 3D printed a better low profile vice, and if I accidentally cut into that, I wouldn’t mind at all, but I don’t regret buying this, it looks awesome and works great, haven’t accidentally cut into it yet, and I think it’s a good value.

Awesome device. Worked perfectly
I had a task to engrave dog tags. Rather than trying to setup and do 10 at a time, it was quicker to load them in the vice one at a time and do them. Paid for itself after the first job.

I bought this to replace a smaller, a smaller steel vise (cheaper drill press style ones) I had been using. I needed larger workpiece holding with a low profile in my gantry CNC. So far, despite being designed for engraving, this vise has proven to hold larger items pretty well. I’ve not had any slippage issues while milling. It’s also very easy to square up the “fixed jaw” side and clamp the pieces in. My method is to bolt the bottom piece down, then loosen the fixed jaw and square that to the machine. It’s easier than moving an entire vise. The only negatives I’ve found are in relation to me not using it how it was intended; admittedly it still does a great job and I can’t fault the vise for the following short comings. That being said if you plan to use this for milling and not engraving there are a few things to watch. First is that setting the workpiece can be a little fiddly since the jaws are loose of the base when you tighten them onto the workpiece. Once I tighten the jaws to the base, I hit the work piece with a deadblow hammer and visually check that it’s “set” into the vise. Additionally, and for me, the largest problem I’ve had is the rear clamping bolt is eating into the soft aluminum jaw. This is most likely due to me needing to clamp harder than the design use of engraving. I believe this to be an easy fix however. When I get some extra time I plan to just mill out a pocket on the jaw and put in a steel insert for the bolt to push on. Another solution would be to use a steel shim between the bolt and clamp. All that being said, this vise has an awesome, simple and effective product design. I’d definitely buy one again or recommend it.
