Fantastic umbrella
Easy to use umbrella that is light and very sturdy. Great quality. Withstands even strong winds and has a large canopy despite its small folded size

How could Fulton have made something this bad?
I do not use these words lightly, but this is the worst purchase I’ve ever made in my life. I was a very loyal customer of this company, having bought from them probably 10 to 15 umbrellas, for myself and for other people. I bought this umbrella on the understanding that it’s supposed to be good in harsh weather. The umbrella would not hold its form from just the air flow of walking. When walking into the wind, it was floppy and didn’t hold it shape; if even the smallest amount of wind got under it, it would invert. Righting the umbrella involved trying to figure out how to collapse the umbrella and reopen it, which is itself confusing because of the mechanism. In the time I had it, it was actively worse than not having an umbrella at all. It was embarrassing because it collapsed all the time, and a handful because I need two hands to reset it. I accidentally left the umbrella on the train, but when I discovered, I didn’t even walk back. It can be someone else’s curse now. There is no way that a company which made this many good umbrellas should be able to make something this useless.

Nice!
I'm not an umbrella person, but when I've had to use this, it has performed well. It's nicely made, feels good in the hand, and is easy up and down in operation. Whether it works in a hurricane I can't say, as you won't find me out in a hurricane. However, it's a very nice umbrella!

Somewhat impressed
Not as wind resistant as toted, but very well built nonetheless with a massive canopy. Quite heavy and so may feel unwieldy at times so I'd say you pay for what you get.

Not worth it - can’t stand wind
Felt like sturdy quality and purchased because it promised to help in strong winds but it can’t withstand London wind. The automatic opening is great concept but doesn’t open smoothly anymore and can be tricky to put down. The handle doesn’t feel very secure to hold. It can protect from rain but not worth the money sadly.

Umbrella review
Item was packed well to avoid damage. Sellers description of the item was accurate and the umbrella is the best I have ever owned. Really pleased.

Disappointing compared to my Fulton Stormshield.
I bought this Performance Tornado after my trusty Fulton Stormshield finally gave up after nearly 14 years of daily use. For context, I walk roughly 7 miles every working day and rely on an umbrella year-round in typical British weather. My Stormshield was outstanding. The vented canopy worked brilliantly in strong winds and, despite years of heavy use, it never once failed. It was large and a little cumbersome to carry, but its durability more than made up for that. When the Stormshield eventually broke in June 2026, after I accidentally put excessive force on it, I decided to replace it with something more commuter-friendly while keeping the vented canopy design. Unfortunately, the Performance Tornado has been a major disappointment. I've used it only five times so far, and on three occasions it has turned inside out in windy conditions. The vented canopy simply doesn't seem to relieve wind pressure in the way the Stormshield did. As a result, I've ended up partially soaked several times. There are some positives. The handle feels well made and the canopy provides good coverage. However, the main frame and ribs feel surprisingly weak and flex far too easily in wind. Despite the "Tornado" name, I would barely describe it as breeze-proof. Oddly, it also feels heavier than the larger Stormshield, and because of its compact folded size I often end up putting it into my bag when the rain stops, which is inconvenient if it's still wet. On one occasion, while struggling with a gust of wind, I accidentally brushed the button and the umbrella partially folded itself. That should not happen during normal use. Perhaps I've been unlucky, but my experience has been very different from many of the positive reviews. Based on my experience so far, this umbrella falls well short of the standard set by the Fulton Stormshield.

It’s got you covered!
This is the best emergency umbrella I have found to cope with our wet weather and strong winds, if I know it’s going to rain I take my full size Fulton Stormshield out with me but this is great to stow in a bag just in case.

Seems to be made well, but does not do what umbrellas are supposed to do
This umbrella was used as a "car umbrella" for my wife. Compact and wind resistant. The umbrella has a button to both open and close the canopy. Though purchased for the Christmas holiday in 2024, it did not see much use until this Fall (2025). The release button began to stick and we noticed what appeared to be a visible cable or some sort of other string or wire in the upper nexus of ribs. Can no longer count on it. Does not deploy without intervention and sometimes deployed upside-down.
