Scratching Lounge & Bed (White) - Basics Collection Cat Scratcher

I ordered one of these for my cats thinking it would be a nice addition to their other scratching items. I was not prepared for them to love it. Immediately my alpha male started lying on it (he is too large to really fit, but he doesn't care), and the others hopped on it the minute he left. They all fit perfectly. The next day I ordered a second one. I'm not sure what they love so much. It's a nice scratcher, but they have many. Anyway, this is a mega hit in our house. I like it has two sides for them to scratch, and it's priced right so it can be replaced when they wear it out. From the steady stream of cats using it I think it's holding up well.

I don't make a habit of reviewing products but I feel as though my cats want me to review this one. Like any cat owner I've gone though my share of scratching products: sisal, cardboard, wood, cork, vertical, horizontal, off-limits furniture, etc. There's usually a warming-up period during which the cats decide that the new thing isn't out to kill them and, eventually, decide to embrace it. For whatever reason, this scratching "lounge" drew them the moment the plastic was off. No catnip, no effort on my part, just instant attraction. In fact, they jealously protect it from each other and, yes, lounge around on it after scratching. I got it because the 16-year-old was not as active on the vertical scratcher so I thought she'd like this; she does (grey in photo). The 6-year-old likes it so much (ginger in photo) that I think I may have to buy him his own so that he stops hogging it.

I received this a few days ago and since then I haven't seen my cat go for the couch once! He sits on it all day and seems so satisfied using it to scratch! I like the design a lot too. Wish I had got this a lot sooner! I used a little cat nip to get him initially interested in it. Great product so far!

My cat ignored this for the first week, after I sprayed it with some catnip she started rolling in it and the rest is history. Its her favorite spot she lounges in it all day and scratches it up, also weirdly she likes to pile all her toys on it then lie on them, its seriously her favorite thing. Had it for 7 months now and its held up pretty well, the corners are pretty worn down from scratching and it sheds a bit so I will have to replace soon. She loves it so much I don't mind cleaning up the cardboard shavings, I already vaccum pretty frequently anyways because my cat is a long hair. Its like her cat throne where she can reign over the rest of the apartment.

We bought a new sofa and needed a cat scratcher to keep our cats away from it. We started by buying a cheaper scratcher and neither of our cats used it. This one arrived and at first they didn't seem interested in it, which made us worry we would never find one that our cats like and that our sofa would be shredded to pieces. However, it turns out they just needed a few days to figure out what this new object in their house was for and now they seem to scratch for just the fun it and enjoy lounging on it and have not touched the sofa even once In fact, there seems to be a little bit of a war going on because they both want to use it at the same time, so I plan to order a second one. You can buy this scratcher with absolute confidence.

Wished it were cheaper though, for pressed cardboard. But the cuts were done perfectly, and it's a nicely made product. Light, and a good size. But more importantly, the cat loves and uses it. Distracts him from clawing the furniture.

One second out of the box and one of my cats claimed it and began scratching on it. Then, she happily laid on it. It's a good size for a large or small cat, sturdy, and I'm sure it will last. Was a great price. The photo could mimic my cat - very happy! Rated 5 Stars at the start.Update: cat vomited on it. I tried to lightly clean it up. In the process, it fell all apart. Very fragile if you use any amount of moisture on it. Cat is sad and so am I. Downgraded to 3 Stars at this point, sadly.Second Update: purchased a new one as I'm going to give this a second chance and maybe I won't have to wet/clean it. Thank you.

UPDATE almost a year later: my cat still loves it! He walks over to scratch it multiple times a day. I also find him sleeping on it sometimes. It does leave some pieces on the floor from his scratching, but nothing a quick vacuuming can't fix. I'm really glad I bought this!My cat immediately started scratching this thing! The stand scratching posts never really worked for him because he would knock them over. This one is perfect because he can scratch and also lay in it. He literally loves this thing!
