DHSTar Gel Shampoo Scented 8 oz

I'm glad to find this replacement for T-Gel. Seems like it's the only option, but works well enough.

Neutrogena discontinued their T-Gel shampoo, this is a good replacement. A little different but still works well, I use several times a week, controls my flaky scalp issues well.

I’ve used it for 4 or 5 washes now, and it is helping. My scalp is significantly less irritated, but there’s still some flaking going on. There’s a lot less than before though, so there’s a definite improvement. It’s just not a complete overnight miracle worker.I also find it’s not too hard to mask the smell of the shampoo on your hair if you follow with a normal-smelling shampoo afterward.Overall not bad at all, I was skeptical at first but it works. I’ll probably be re-purchasing!

This straight up smells like asphalt in a bottle. Not a slight smell. It is potent. It smells like the exact smell when someone has their driveway done, and you put the liquid form from this bottle onto your scalp and wait a few minutes. Hence the “coal tar.” I am currently on the step of waiting a few minutes but I just thought there should really be a review that points to the very potent smell. Guess I’ll find out if it works and update after.

This is my go-to when my dandruff gets ahead of me. I use this as a once-in-a-while to supplement my usual pyrithione zinc shampoo. After my usual shampoo, it takes a microscopic amount of tar gel shampoo to suds up and reach my scalp.As a bonus, I have noticed that if I use this just once a week, not only is my dandruff tamed, but I get a "good hair day" after using it. More often than that and my hair gets dry and unmanageable.

I also use the DHS brand 2% zinc and this works just as well on my skin without the sting.I understand the tar gel version here is less stinky than the original, which I'm considering trying next because I've come to find out I really don't mind the odor and I think it's much less strong than it was when I smelled it on first use, and the odor doesn't stay behind when you rinse it out, so good on them. I just suspect that the non-gel version might work better, because they still sell it, there has to be a reason lol.Seems like it lasts too, you only need a dab or two. One 8oz bottle has lasted me all year and there's about 1/10th of it left by my estimate, but I'm only working with a beard lol.

This is a great replacement for neutrogena’s coal tar shampoo they stopped making and is just as effective for me. I thought the scent wouldn’t work given how it’s coal tar, but it actually does come through and isn’t too bad.
