SPTMicro-Computer Radiant Cooktop

JUST UPDATING THAT IT HAS NOW BEEN ABOUT 30 MONTHS OF DAILY USE AND NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER.I have had this unit for over a year now and it's pretty darn good. It looks classy and it feels safe and soundly designed. It cleans up well, even when a sauce has spilled over and then 'congealed dry' onto the heating surface. It puts out enough heat for most anything except maybe stir fry. I 'slap' the convenient one-touch buttons a lot and none have burned out yet. Nice and solid.I am an amateur though. I don't need fine point low to super low settings. A proper cook would, especially for simmering milk or cream. The way this is set up, there are 100, 300, 500, 700, 900, 1100, 1300, and 1500 watt settings. That 'seems' like plenty. Better would be 50-100-150-200-300 and then just a couple more for medium and high after that. But this is still a fine unit and I would buy another, at least for my needs.

I purchased this cooktop to take the place of a Sunpentown  Radiant Cooktop with Stainless Steel Housing  that had stopped working. This one is fine, except that the housing is plastic. We used a 14" round griddle on it, and the plastic housing was melted under the part of the griddle that extended beyond the cooktop surface. The same griddle worked fine on the Sunpentown, which had a metal housing. This cooktop works fine with a normal size skillet or saucepan. This SPT is supposed to be the same manufacturer as Sunpentown, and it seems to be the only non-induction portable radiant cooktop available.

Excellent stove top for traveling to hotels in a car. I travel for work a lot and like to make my own meals in hotels to have healthy options and less cost that eating out.I would recommend this for anyone who wants an extra burner for holiday cooking. It is small and cleans up easily.

Had my first one of these for 7 years till I wore it out, purchased another one just about a month ago, must of got a lemon, giving E5 message while trying to cook breakfast. Guess I'll have to return it.

I do not care for induction cooking.So I ordered this SPT radiant cooker.It looked so good when it arrived. I prepared to make some soup.So far, so good.After i shut it down and let it cool I wanted to clean it. I dripped some water on the induction area and grabbed a soft, clean cotton kitchen towel.I slowly and softly run the towel over the induction area and got a surprise I did not expect.... or want.That towel and the water actually removed part of the cooking surface!It took me 15 minutes to wrap the product up for disposal in my garbage can.If you still have a desire to purchase this item, please be careful.

Fab. Have one used daily for 5 years. Was getting a tad tired so bought another. They improved the fan so I believe this one will perform for many years.Highly recommend.
