Chords made understandable
This book presents a subject that is normally difficult in a straightforward, understandable manner. Thompson moves through the topic of chords beginning with the simplest concepts, and then places brick on top of brick to build a firm knowledge foundation in building chords. I wish I had seen this book years ago. It will be a "must" for my piano students.

Now I love piano. I've been doing sight reading a lot ...
This book is exactly what I need. I took lessons as a child and took a 25 year break. Now I love piano. I've been doing sight reading a lot and have gotten fairly smooth with hymns. But I'm still reading each note. It's like reading the letters of the alphabet instead of reading the words. So I'm challenging myself to see vertical notes as a chord, with a name, so I can sight read the whole thing at once. This book will help much.

For theory beginners
This is a very good instruction book that my instructor showed me. His copy was ancient, but it is still in print. Very good for the beginner in music theory.
