GEARWRENCH43990 Indexing Ball Joint and Tie Rod Separator Set

This is a great tool. The ability to use with a manual hammer and switch to air hammer is great. The adjustments on the fork end help out a lot in some circumstances, but are not often needed. It makes this kit that much more useful. The tools themselves hold up to proper abuse. Aside from normal wear and tear, there is no damage to the pieces. The case is as expected from Gearwrench, sturdy and properly fits the tools. This is a KD Tools product. So don't expect the Gearwrench brand to be there. It could also be a rebrander like Napa, but it is the same tool. Now there is an issue on warranty. KD Tools provides a lifetime warranty whereas Napa, for example, does not provide a lifetime warranty.My one complaint is this. The end of the manual hammer attachment would be much nicer with a larger striking head on it. Rather than just being the same diameter as the bat itself, having a solid and larger striking head would just make it easier to use. It is not always possible to get a perfect head on strike to the end, there seems to be no accommodation for this.I gave a 4/5 because of the branding issue. I have more bent pickle forks than straight ones, so warranty to me is important. I am not so concerned on who's brand is on the tool or the case, but I would prefer it to be consistent. I believe KD Tools makes a quality product, but it is advertised here as Gearwrench and shipped as Napa. I would assume that contacting Apex, the owner of KD Tools now, would resolve any issues with the product. But when I spend my dollar, I prefer knowing vs assuming.

If you have any need for a pry fork or pickle fork this is the one for you. With the indexing joint you can either attach the handle rod / pneumatic impact rod OR align a large knuck striking surface for hitting with a hammer. The knuckle lets you apply a lot more striking force without holding a long rod and makes using the fork a lot faster and easier.The only downside is that the fork joint is somewhat large and may be difficult to fit in smaller areas, depending on your application. For outer tie rods, and trucks in general, this is amazingly easy to use.Buy this one first, its worth it.

Product is good quality haven't used yet but it seems pretty solid and well made but I gave 4 stars because I thought I was purchasing a gearwrench product but it's not, it's a napa product.

Does what it's supposed to do. I like the fact I can change the angle to get a better or different hit. Couldn't do the job without them

This is very nice tool. The indexing is nice and feel strong and I know it will come very handy someday. Also, once you find an angle, it locks and stay that way. Somehow, the manufacture included two small fork instead of one large (15/16 in.) and one small (21/32 in.). I contacted the seller through Amazon, the seller "The General Store" responded and sent the large fork within couple hours. 10 stars for the seller. Thank you.

Great product but ordered this as a Gearwrench product so I could warranty swap it if needed with the tool truck at work. Received this product as a Napa brand so don't expect Gearwrench from Tool Liquidators
