I'm in love with this lens
I grew up taking pictures with single setting 35MM lenses. I had a 50mm, 28mm, 85mm, 105mm and a 135mm for my film cameras. I got a "kit" when I bought my Nikon D3400, now a D5500. The kit has a 28 to 70 and a 70 to 300 lens. I love the flexibility of these zooms, but I felt like I was missing something when I realized that they made prime lenses. We had a trip coming up, and I decided that I needed an 80 or 85MM. This lens is stunning. It is fast, with a f/1.8 aperture. This fast aperture means that the lens opens wider, lets more light in, and shortens the focusing distance. It is a wonderful lens for taking portraits of people when there are busy backgrounds because it blurs the background, exceptionally well. I'm sorry for the wall of text, but if you really want to learn photography, or if you know photography, and can't afford those $300 to $1000 prime lenses, this is your answer. it's an excellent lens, all of the factors are thought of, and the budget user is kept in mind. LOVE this lens.

Great for budget and beginners and advanced photographers
Great budget lens takes great photos, focus is a little loud but not as bad as others mentioned. Well worth the price

Quickly becoming a favorite lens
I bought this due to price and need for a better portrait specific lens. I have been impressed. The more I shoot with it, the more its value becomes apparent. Was a worthy, valid purchase. Had never heard of the brand before, but took a chance and was rewarded. I must agree with other shooters though that it can be rather indecisive on AF, almost acting as if it is second guessing itself. In manual its easy to be spot on and just as quick. Seems to work better outdoors and brings out magnificence in shots. I find it to be wonderfully sharp with incredible depth of field and bokeh that delights clients. It may not be from a big brand, but I don't feel I'm missing a thing.

Quality and Comfort
Yes, amazing lens for the price. Fast auto focus response, weight is good, not heavy. Photos come out amazing. Nothing but good on this lens so far. Easy to use and update when needed.

Best lens for the price.
Great looking lens. I love how sleek it looks and simple. It came with a lens hood (that's a plus) and a soft microfiber bag for storage. Let's talk about how it works. The manual focus is great, very precise. The autofocus is great but a bit noisy. Not a problem if you are just into taking pictures but for videos you will need an external microphone. I uploaded some samples using a Nikon D3500, so it's great for entry and intermediate levels. Overall, I really recommend this lens 100%. Perfect for portrait and landscape. Great price with great performance. I'm really satisfied with this lens.

Nice upgrade
I’ve had this for one day and it’s already a huge upgrade from my 18-55 mm kit lens. Quality of pictures both on preset modes and manual come out way better than before I had it. It is a bit noisy on auto focus but if you’re not using video then it’s no big deal. It came with a lens cap and hood which was a bonus, too.

Simply awful
Been seeing this one around on several sites, an 85mm 1.8 for $200? Curiosity had the best of me, and boy what a piece of garbage. Autofocus is noisy, but one could live with that. Sharpness is close to non existent, maybe I’ve got a bad sample, maybe is the way this lens is. Nevertheless is going back to Amazon the same day I’ve received it. Took about 50 photos, one was somewhat sharp until you zoom in. Cloro rendition is also rather poor, photos come out lacking life no matter the subject. Definitely not worth it, save your money and go for a used Nikon 85mm 1.8, will save you from headaches and unusable photos. If I could give negative stars I would’ve of.

Just ok
I read reviews where it said it was a loud lens. That is correct, but nothing bad. My issue is that there is a really bad glare that comes in all my photos no matter the light or angle shot at.

I have used this for several weeks now and it produces very sharp pictures. I take pictures of flowers for greeting cards and this lens works great.
