Made my life so much easier
We have multiple TV displays throughout our office. The Neumi 4K has made our lives so much easier for displaying graphics. The units work predictably and very easy to set up and use. Very intuitive. We use Canva to make the video graphics and then transfer to a USB drive and it works great. Thanks

Very impressive!
Haven't spent much time with it, but the output is great, the response is peppy, it had no problem navigating a 4tb external drive. I have yet to find a file that it's choked on.

A simple media player that works very well!
I've been using a WD Live media player for many years. It had a lot of "bells and whistles" that this media player doesn't have. While I did like the WD media player's movie title cards and the information it provided for each video file, it took a long time for the player to load up. Also, the WD media player being 12-year-old does not play 4K content. So, now about this player... The Neumi Atom 4K Ultra is a basic player that loads up quickly and plays several media formats without issue. I am using a Sandisc 512GB flash drive that is recognized by the Atom 4K in NTFS file format. The file menu is basic, simply showing the titles listed in an easy-to-read format. The remote is very basic as well, but easy to use too. This Atom 4K Ultra unit is SMALL, smaller than a deck of cards, and won't take up much space. While small, the build quality is solid.

This thing rocks!
I just upgraded to a new 4K projector and receiver and bought some 4K Blu Rays of my favorite films. IN the meantime, I ordered this NEUMI ATOM player, just to see what it could do. I loaded a 66.7 GB file of one of those movies onto a 3TB external hard drive, hooked up the hard drive and the Neumi to my receiver, and ... oh, my! The picture and sound were absolutely beautiful. My go-to method of watching video is to stream it to my Roku with Plex Media Server. This Neumi player, however, works so much better, especially with those huge files. No buffering, no hiccups, no freezes ... just solid 4K content! It loads quickly (almost immediately), plays every file format I have, and asks if you want to pick up where you left off if you stop the movie before it ends. This is all I want for Christmas this year! I can't think of anything else I would rather have.

Local media playback champ
This item is great for old-school local media playback. It does not do online apps, it just plays a wide variety of media formats stored on your own USB drive. I've used it with both a spinning-rust external USB hard disk, and flash-based USB thumb drives. It accepts MKV, MP4, AVI, and a whole bunch of obscure media formats and codecs.

Dangerous, very good chance to destroy your external USB hard drives. - October Feb 18, 2025
Newest revision October 18, 2025. I feel bad I had to re-write my review of the Neumi. I already issued an alarm regarding that this player does not eject the drives properly. Then I rated it 4 stars because it does play the 4K videos well... Until last night, when I was going to review 4 of my 2TB Western Digital hard drives. This time, It was able to read the first one and plays videos well... until I stopped and turn it off, waited a few minutes and remove the hard drive. That was enought to KILL/Bricked the 2TB drive. It cannot be accessed/erased/reformatted/repartitioned in Windows 10, Windows 11, Ubuntu 20, 22 and 24, using Disk Management/diskpart/sfc /scannow/etc... I tried everything. It is dead as a door nail. So, this Neumi player is now declared by me as DANGEROUS. Use it at your own risk of loosing your drives. Now rated 1 star (should be Zero star and removed from the market place.) Below is a revision of what I wrote when reviewing the Neumi Atom 4K player. Today, I would like to revise "The Bad:" (see below...) After reaching out to tech support of Neumi, I was advised that one should wait a few minutes before removing the USB hard drives after turning the Neumi off, which I do now. This turn out to be true, and this may help. However, I have tried again, and still feel nervous because although the Neumi is off, the USB drives still flash, or if not flashing the LED is still on. To be fair to Neumi, I think the Neumi Atom 4K player is safe for the USB hard drives. Mine are all 2TB, and this may not applicable to larger size drives. Still, be warned, if you experience hard drive problems with a Mac computer after playing them with the Neumi, the drive can be "rescanned" by a Windows computer and it will be fine. The BAD: The 2 Neumi I bought do not eject the external hard drives connected to the USB connector correctly when they are turned off after playing, The drives are OK with the Neumi, but unreadable on Mac or PC computers when removed from the Neumi. PC can "fix" ths problem, but it needs to be fixed. This problem is important to be corrected because it is the same as just unplugging the drives without first ejecting them. When turning off the Neumi, I saw only one time that it has a "Turn Off" option. Many other times, it just turn off, and the hard drives go bad. I am lucky this can be "fixed." This is dangerous. I decided to keep both and hopefully will figuring out how to properly eject the drives before moving them to other computers. I gave this 4 stars. It is a very cheap player that can play 4K movies very well, just what I need.

Cons: when powered up, it doesn't turn on your receiver and/or TV automatically. I did try different cables and a firmware update. Pros: it has played every video in every format with great picture quality and sound (set to pass-through) as well as recognized and listed every subtitle available. Tip: it takes a LONG time for firmware to install, don't turn it off, just wait.

Smooth playback for 4k mkv movies and mp3 files. Picture quality seems better and audio strength, especially surround, stronger than my andriod media box. The kind of media player I've been looking for.

Hasta ahorita está trabajando muy bien, los archivos h.265 no ha habido problemas, me falta reproducir videos 4k, pero viendo su desempeño creo que no tendrá complicación alguna

I expected the worst with this but it has amazed me! I didn't even bother to read the instructions and I plugged a 900GB Samsung SSD drive into it and connected it to my Samsung TV and turned it on and it came on after my TV searched for it and pefect picture. I have tons of old movies and TV programs from way back in the past and this plays almost all of them and it's like VLC player for my TV and ROCK ON! Just remember to select "MOVIES" on the main screen if you want to watch a movie because if you select a photo or music it will not play them. So make sure you select VIDEOS or PHOTOS or MUSIC first. The remote control is comfortable and very easy to use. There are no batteries for the remote control and no HDMI cable but that was Ok with me. The ONLY bad thing with this is the Adaptor and it has a 2 flat pinned plug with it and they are dangerous and a fire hazard and no way I will leave that ON when not in use. The adaptor that it arrives with is : AC/DC adaptor 60 hz 0.4 amps 5V 2000mA I am now using a spare 3 pinned 5V 2 Amp Adaptor I already had and it works great and is safe I am VERY pleased with this so far and amazed it plays all those ancient files I have. WELL DONE neumi ! (so far)
