AeroGarden Grow Anything Seed Pod Kit (6-pod)

I grow Two basil species, mint, dill and parsely. Out of the seeds it came with, One pod didn't grow. The pods were loose in the box, no padding. Even so, I randomly stuffed the soil back into the pods not knowing which was which. The mint sprouted first. I ended up removing it as I don't have any use for mint, but also, it was growing very fast. Next came the basil. The basil is sort of amazing how fast it grows and how heavy the leaves are. They SMELL! (Like basil) I harvest the Basil and Dill once a week. My toaster oven has a dehydrate mode, so I dehydrate, grind and store them in a baggy. Tonight it's Spaghetti with lots of fresh basil. (Not dehydrated and ground) You can also use your own seeds and buy the pods with no seed in it. I will be buying a larger model when they go on sale again.

This is a great kit for refilling my gardens. I did reach out about the plastic domes shown in the picture. This is the response I received. "AeroGarden has diligently worked on reducing our overall consumption of single use plastic in order to promote sustainability. Grow domes are no longer included in kits. The AeroGarden research team conducted several trials that determined grow domes do not provide any additional benefit to germination of seeds in our AeroGarden units. Additionally, the team has focused on improving our seed storage conditions to help increase germination rates with all varieties currently offered."

Worth it.

I was excited to try this AeroGarden seed pod kit, but unfortunately most of the included seeds didn’t sprout for me. That was disappointing since I was hoping for an easy start. However, I found a good workaround by using the pods with my own seeds, and they worked great for that purpose. The pods fit perfectly and hold moisture well, making them reusable for other seeds. If you’re handy with seeds and want to experiment, these pods are useful, but if you’re relying on the kit’s seeds to sprout easily, you might be frustrated.

My daughter gifted me a 6 pod unit for Christmas. I started it with herbs and got a great crop. I love that it is hydroponic and they provide you with a generous amount of fertilizer. The light heighth is adjustable as the plants mature and grow. The light is on a timer, based on the type of plants your are growing. It also has 2 LED timers:one for thedays since started (planted) and one for the days til you need to add more fertilizer (every 14 days). After a few months, my herbs had overgrown the unit and I couldnt keep up with snipping. I froze some and oven dried some the rest, and started a new crop of tomatos, placing seeds in new blank spikes. After 20 days, they are sturdy, not a bit leggy, and have grown twice as fast as any other method I have tried. They are just about ready to transplant to the garden. My next grow cycle will be various lettuces. I cant wait to have fresh salad greens this summer! An added bonus is that I placed some African Violets near the light unit and they have started reblooming after a year of just leaves. They're very happy too with the light too!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: These have worked well for most of our own seeds. It’s nice to choose specific varieties to grow.

This picture is misleading, it come with everything pictured except the plastic covers which would act as a mini greenhouse. I’m pretty disappointed about that but the package insert is clear that’s not part of the kit. These plastic covers were my selling point on this kit versus a cheaper generic kit for half the price.

While it is possible to find hydroponic pod supplies for less money, Aerogarden's supplies are far superior. The pieces all fit perfectly together and the stickers that cover the pods (limits algae growth during germination) are sturdy and easy to use. Other brands don't fit as well and the stickers are nearly impossible to use. I get consistently better results with Aerogarden pods and Miracle-Gro nutrient solution (no A-B mixing) than with anything else I've tried.

Labels had detached from backing sheet (not present) and attached to pods (some then detached and useless), majority of sponges missing and some inserted into pods. Cap removed from plant food bottle. The only positive thing to say is that I received a prompt refund.

Its a really easy way to start with hydroponics. I like it!

Ho utilizzato questo grow kit su un modello di idroponica aerogarden, non ottimale la germinabilità dei semi, predisponendo tutto come indicato nelle istruzioni su 9 baccelli preseminati 3 non sono mai germinati
