Monk - Season Two [DVD]

I decided to go against the trend of some reviewers and actually watch the discs before reviewing this set :-)MONK Season 2 is just as fun,entertaining, and dramatic, if not more so than Season 1. Season one really gave a high benchmark for an excellent TV series.This set of 16 shows ( which actually sees Monk Solving way more than 16 cases ) is full of excellent character development, detailed thought, which is all driven by the Key story arc , the one case that Monk cannot solve. In fact Two of the shows, 11 and 16, reveal detailed plot points that fire up the start of season three.The emotional element of Monk is reiterated many times, and Tony Shalhoub carries this off beautifully, with Sharona( the irreplaceable Bitty Schram), in scenes like the final shots of episode one with Monk near the tree; Monk shows this in many and varied ways through the series, and the work of Sharona's character is most definitely to highten this effect.We discover the details of Sierra Springs ( Episode 2), the fun and comedy of an offbeat clown( episode 4); the classic lines as in episode 6 where Monk describes "Speedy Dates" as "Dantes 7th circle of Hell".The amazing care that goes into these shows is even more refined in the widescreen version of the show on disc, that not everyone can see in the TV broadcast version.One element of the show that I enjoy immensely is the opening credits with the superb song IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE: the final shot of this sequence has Monk crossing a street from season one, and it is a beautifully crafted shot that bookmarks the summary of the season that has been edited together for the song and credits.EXTRAS:Disc 1 has THE MINDS BEHIND MONK; You discover the successful formula that has been applied to the series, and just why season 1 as well as 2 work so superbly well.Disc 2 has a profile of Disher.Disc 3 has a BRILLIANT profile of Stottlemeyer, done in the skilled manner that Ted Levine can achieve with consumate ease.and Disc 4 has a Tour of the precint.If you love Monk, then this is a must have. The audio, even though 2.1 stereo, is brilliantly done, and the time spent watching this is a pleasure. The best thing about the set, is that you can pick whatever show is your favorite and rewatch it.Ignore the rubbish about a missing booklet ... not true... no booklet like the one in season one has been advertisedanywhere !!![The IMDB quotes and trivia combine quotes from season two as well as the first half of season three, at the very least. ]ENJOY

Interesting television series about a detective with a lot of mental challenges but can still help the police solve cases. Many of the episodes were too easy to figure out but, they are entertaining to watch.

I didn't realize how many Monk episodes I had already seen before purchasing the series but I enjoy watching them again. tony shalhoub is so entertaining and the characters around him are also fun and likeable and watching it just makes you feel - happy. even if the plots are predictable - which they are not too terribly predictable, about the same as murder she wrote or matlock - the development of the stories are what's fun to watch. to see his quirks and see people around him who also are dysfunctional in their own ways but manage to make it through the day. I love monk and look forward to every DVD in the mail.

After viewing the first season, we decided that this was the kind of entertainment that we could enjoy instead of TV. For a long list of reasons we cancelled cable, and now we watch movies and "TV" on DVD. Monk is interesting detective entertainment with a touch of Sherlock Holmes and a minimum of offensive language and violence. We have already ordered seasons three and four through Amazon.

Excellent quality. My husband and I watched this show for many seasons. It was great to find they were now on DVD. He only bought one season due to the price. So I was very excited to be able to find all of the seasons on Amazon, at a much lower price. So I bought him the whole set for his birthday. Great gifts.

Absolutely hilarious!! I have never seen OCD in such a funny light. The writing for show is engaging because it appeals to the my comical and suspense side at the same time. My husband and I got hooked watching reruns of Mr. Monk on Sunday nights. When we realized that we wanted to see the early seasons, Amazon offered the best price. I look forward to purchasing the other seasons.

I'm not much of a TV viewer but wish I hadn't missed the Monk series during its 8 year run. Tony Shaloub is a terrific actor and presents the Monk character wonderfully well. The "defective detective" is endearing and the story lines are very entertaining. Fortunately, for non-viewers like me, these are preserved on DVD so we have a second chance.

This series makes me laugh soft drinks out of my nose. Hilarious.

I like "who done its". Monk makes us laugh because we know people who have these traits. Sometimes it's fun to try to solve mysteries.
