Guweiz: The Art of Gu Zheng Wei

Rare to see an artist own their rocky start and shortcomings in art, and Guweiz absolutely owns his. It's encouraging and refreshing. Guweiz is constructive in his self analysis, which many artists may find helpful in learning how to be critical but fair towards their own work. Aside from that, the artbook is filled with gorgeous illustrations.I see people complaining about the artbook being too dark, but to me it isn't.

I've been in love with Guweiz's art for a while now. My phone's wallpaper has been his colour sketch of a girl sitting on the roof under her umbrella since I got it. So when I saw this book on Amazon I just knew I had to get it, and I'm glad I did. Viewing their art online is one thing, seeing it on a page in a book you own is another experience entirely. I'm not much of an artist myself, so the tips and tricks aren't that important to me, but the artwork is and I'm going to enjoy just looking through it. I'm particularly glad that the masked musician in the forest artwork features in the book, because that's my absolute favourite piece.As for the book itself, it's nice and heavy, and the pages are nice and thick. The printing is perfect, and I don't feel like the cover will wear away easily. What more could you want?Honestly, if this book was £40 I would have paid for it. £21 for a book I'm going to love and keep for the rest of my life is a steal. If you also love Guweiz's art, this book is a must have.

I'm not normally a review writing kind of guy but this book is so good I felt compelled. As somebody who's bought dozens of these types of art books I've grown used to the disappointment of there being only 3 or 4 images that really grab me. This book is packed with stunning paintings of wonderfully imagined characters & settings. Many of which are full page too not the usual array of small thumnails & text overlaid over the image. It is also a very high quality book in hardback form printed on heavy duty paper & a very nice cover. I've not read all the text yet but the book also features loads of pro tips from Guweiz himself & other stuff about his projects & process. If you are in anyway thinking about buying this based on the cover image buy it! That is the level of quality throughout. As big a ten out of ten as I can give it.

The book itself is well written with a lot of informative insights into the artist’s process as-well as their journey and how far they developed, my only qualm is that some edges. Of the book came dented as if they were not properly secured during shipping.

This should be a beautiful book but the digitally created artwork has not been reproduced well on paper. The images are just too dark. The artwork appears dim and lacks contrast. The images were created on a computer screen and one can imagine them appearing better on a backlit screen, but on the the pages of this book they appear dreary and dull. The book also suffers unnecessarily from tiny text - no need. Overall the graphic design is awful.

Although its great artwork there are very few actual images, just multiple crops of a handful of the same artwork.

Book is awesome, but as a fair warning to those buying the book, it is not shrink-wrapped and stored in a warehouse collecting dust and grime. Product deserves five stars, but the company delivering it gets 0 stars. Also, the pages are warped; how humid or wet is your warehouse?

Lovely quality book, bought as a gift for my sister who loves this style if art and is doing an illustration course. Fab layout and start of the artists work.

The media could not be loaded.  O artbook é claro, maravilhoso. Guweiz é sem dúvidas meu artista digital preferido, as artes são fascinantes. Pra quem tem curiosidade sobre o trabalho do artista é uma ótima opção pra conhecer melhor sobre (inclusive, em uma página ele fala até mesmo as infos do pc que usa pra ilustrar, o lugar onde desenha, etc), além de ter ótimas dicas pra quem faz ilustração digital.Então não tem o que dizer do livro porque é perfeito, e mesmo em inglês é fácil de entender.Meu medo de ter feito o pedido aqui foram as avaliações dizendo que estava danificado, e realmente veio com algumas manchas e arranhões na capa. Fora isso, tudo intacto e com ótima qualidade.A capa tem uma textura macia que facilita manchar, mas isso não justifica os arranhões.A embalagem é de plástico bolha, veio um pouco rasgada.O tamanho é um pouco maior do que pensei, e as letras da capa brilham no escuro, muito legal.Enfim, 1000/10 pro Guweiz e o conteúdo do artbook. Mas, em questões de cuidado e manuseio do produto, frustrante saber que vários livros dele foram danificados assim.

Beautiful work, love how he handles light!

Guweiz ist mein großes Vorbild und es ist so ein wunderschönes Buch mit so guten selbst geschriebenen Kontent drinnen. Bilder mit Erklärungen wir er dran ging und seine ganze Zeichenkarierre von vor 6-7 Jahren bis heute. Das Buch ist allgemein sehr schön gedruckt. Es kam mit einpaar seltsamen Fingerabdrücken drauf die ich aber abwischen konnte ohne das Buch zu beschädigen.Ich liebe dieses Buch es ist sehr schön.
