I immersed a few for these for a week in hydrochloric acid and they are still good as new. What does it take to biodegrade them?

Hydrochloric acid is the same as stomach acid and generally doesn't do as well at breaking down cellulose so try sulfuric or phosphoric acid.

How long does it take for these to break down? Can I put them in my compost pile?

The website says 6 months in a compost bin
