What are you waiting for! Do it!
I put this in my 99 convertible. I've had the car for 10 years with the stock shifter and finally got around to picking up one of these short shifters to do since I had the console apart upgrading to a 2din radio. Topped it with the white Hurst shift knob. Removing the OEM shift knob was probably the hardest part. Pry the "devil key" off with a screwdriver on each side and don't worry about breaking anything, just go for it and it will pop right off. 4 bolts hold the shifter assembly down and you have to move the adapter thing on the bottom over to the new shifter. Pretty easy to do. O...M...G! I wish I had known what the difference was going to be like. Shifts are crisp and more precise than the stock shifter. I'm a casual driver and not a pro racer or anything, but the car was fun to run through the gears stock...now its even better! To me it feels like the shift gates are closer together and it seems easier getting through each gear now. There are reports that this is "stiffer" than stock so I took the springs out before install, and its still a little stiff but its not as bad as reported. If it breaks in and gets super loose I'll put the springs back in and update this review. I haven't had any issues putting it in R and haven't experienced any popping out of gear that others have reported. I've had it in the car for about 3 weeks as of this review and I love it. If you are on the fence, just do it!***Not a paid review. Something I bought because I felt like it!

Hurst Short Shifter
I installed this in a 2000 Corvette.Installation: ModerateI already had the console apart since I was installing the radio. So it took me all of 30 minutes to remove the stock shifter and install the new one. The hardest part of the install is removing the metal T-Clip. Most people say it took them 30-45 minutes just to remove this. However, I was able to get it off within 5 minutes. I took a set of pliers, small piece of wood, and pried the t-clip out by leveraging the plier over the wood. Two pulls and it came out. Make sure to follow the rest of the instructions for setting the stop screws (optional).Driving Impressions: The throws are much shorter. The shift knob also seems to be sitting a little bit lower than factory which I like. The only gripes I have of the shifter is that going into first gear when parked can be a little notchy. A few times it didn't want to go in. Reverse always seems to give me problems. I either hit a wall or it pops out. It does go in on the second try.The shifter does come with springs to make moving the lever left/right easier, however, this doesn't seem to bother me. Someone who isn't strong in the wrist/lower arm might see this as a problem.Overall, I'm very happy with it. Once I can figure out how to fix the reverse issue, I can rate this 5 stars.

Great product
Install went quick and painless, feels great in the car, no noise or shaking. They give you springs to swap out to adjust side to side tension but even the softest springs are still pretty stiff. I would definitely recommend a weighted shift knob to go with this. Otherwise it is a bit of a bear to put in gear. I made a solid metal knob for mine and now it glides into gear. Feels great, throw is shorter and feels better going into gear. Absolutely recommend

Good buy, quality shifter.
Been replacing stock shifters with Hurst shifters for over 50 years. Put it in my 2001 6 speed Corvette. Quality construction, smooth shifter, hasn't changed in all the years I've been using them!

Huge improvement over stock. Love the precision and the tight feeling of shifting. Makes driving much more enjoyable!

The install was easy enough, but once installed
Disappointing. First, the shifter boot and knob are NOT included as advertised. Contacted support. They sent another one overnight. Sent the first one back. The second one had no boot or knob either. Called support and told them about this. The package was torn open when I opened the box. Told them I needed the shifter, so I would forgo the boot and knob. The install was easy enough, but once installed, the shifter would not move laterally at all. Tried installing the supplied optional springs. They are much weaker and easier to operate, but still wouldn't move laterally enough to shift into 1,2,5,6, and definitely not reverse when installed. Bolted the stock one back in place and everything worked fine. I can only blame the shifter.

shiftier works great.
Instructions were vague, throw stops worked into place to stop 1,3,5,and reverse from engaging. But after removing per the vague instructions, shiftier works great.
