Weight Loss Motivation Hacks: 7 Psychological Tricks That Keep You Motivated To Lose Weight

Derek Doepker the Motivator
For all the health and fitness guidebooks available few are as practically minded and down to earth as this brief, immensely readable one by Derek Doepker. Founder of the Excuse Proof Fitness, he uses this book to reorient our thinking about the way we approach everything and in that everything is health and fitness Hacking our behavior blueprint, our consciousness, our habits, our emotions, our stress response, our choices and our dedication. After a lengthy introduction offered in his own history of the battle of the bulge, he gets down to the psychology of motivation - real motivation -and how to take the idea to the finish line. Yes there are teasers here, such as `the 6 human needs that dictate all human behavior' (who can NOT pick up this book just for those insights alone?) and some reality testing about why most diets and `regular cardio workouts' don't work. But the entertaining way Derek shares all of this is what makes the little book work. Incidentally he includes a photo of his own beautifully sculpted body that backs up everything he has been talking about. As with all of Derek Doepker's publications, this one is a winner. Great approach to weight loss
Derek's book is great for anyone who wants a reminder of how to get into the mindset of becoming physically fit. The sequence in which he approaches the subject is sensible, and fits with his philosophy of taking one step at a time and living in the moment. Each step builds upon the other. Sometimes the writing is a bit awkward; there were a few times when I had to reread a sentence several times to extract the meaning, but the overall health message was clear. I have already shared his insights with relatives and I will share with my friends as well.

Good Insights!
Weight Loss is a complex and difficult subject for people to deal with. Psychology plays a very important part and this book correctly addresses the barriers that people are likely to face and what to do about them. Unless you get the internal mental work right , exercising on will power will not work. You need to have a system in place and you also need the help of a support group. As for the book, make it a permanent addition to your library if you are dealing with weight loss issues or you know someone else who is dealing with this major problem.

Very helpful and holistic!!
This book is straight up to the point! I love that. I love the tips for practicing mindfulness as well as ways to reprogram our ways of thinking. It drives me nuts to hear people say "there's no point in me starting a health program I have no motivation" . What I can tell you is being overweight increases your cancer risk by 30 percent!!!!! I work in healthcare and I can also tell you there are no elderly people who are obese. If you do the math here people, you need to find a way to get healthy and change your self talk. This book is a fantastic tool for that. Please if you are looking at New year's resolutions and want to reduce your cancer and cardiac risk please read this book!!!!

Good little book
I gave this three stars because I wished it went into more detail, but it is a free book and seemed to entice the reader into buying the author's other works. That said, I did enjoy this book because it restated what most people already know about motivation but also have some tips on actually harnessing will power and keeping motivation high. I did like the concept of the thirty day challenge and making smaller, achievable goals to keep you motivated and stay on track. Being an "all or nothing" girl, I'm going to try this concept first and also figure out my needs as discussed in the book. If "baby steps" get me there then that's what I'm willing to do since the way I've been doing things isn't really working.

I never give 5 stars.....
While I never give a "perfect" rating to anything or anyone, because there is no such thing as perfect, this books come close to it. This isn't about just weight loss it is about making any life change for the better. The author points out things to make us think about why we aren't getting in better shape, more organized, and other important factors in our lives. I will refer back to this book as I work on moving forward to my next goal in life!

It’s your choice to apply these tips!
Love the tips! But it’s daily practice of them that lead to results! I am day 2 in to this starting new habits and have already begun conquering some of my fears with complete ease thinking only about me having power rather than caring what others think! Thank you!

Excellent Guide
I read this book in one go as I found the suggestions practical and relevant to other areas of my life (not just to eating healthily and or lose weight). My favourite tips were the use of making small, micro changes to your current habits, such as eating an Apple a day, having a healthy breakfast and making every effort to sustain this habit for 30 days. Plus the value of using mindfulness meditation to help keep you focused and mindful of your thoughts and actions, is a very useful tool. All in a all, a unique perspective to a common problem. Definitely worth reading. Thank you.

Defo a must for me.
I chose the rating because it is a straight to the point book. It's not long and boring, it's not short of good tips. Switches your brain easily. Would liked to have been given many more good recipes to help with food ideas to use.

Misleading
This is not a book it's little more than a pamphlet such a rip off with very few pages.

Great motivational read, but you must have the will power in the first place to succeed!

This book is a joke
I can't believe I got tricked into this one lol! I really should have known better. The gist of it is find something you like more than food and concentrate on that when you go to eat. ex a better body and health.
