I was first introduced to the product by a Master mechanical commercial pump rebuilder out of Greensboro NC.It is thick, translucent, and sticky, though not oily. It helps prevent critical O rings and seals from being damaged upon reassembly: Examples: sliding parts together that have brand new o rings, sliding through exact fit cavities, reassembling pumps with ceramic seals that can be damaged by a simple fingerprint (or shock).It helps me on pump rebuilds of 7 1/2 HP and up because you must constantly manually rotate the impeller shaft to check on accidental misalignment or some other boo boo. The lubricant helps protect the new surfaces from being scarred, and because it is thick, helps to reduce accidental shock during assembly.
