Clear and convincing
A very concise, clear and convincing read. The patriarchy persists at the expense of humanity and through maintaining a constant division in interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships. As a professional with existing knowledge of psychological theory and practice, this book made for a clear and persuasive read. I think lay readers may struggle with some of the concepts since technical terms are used which people familiar with the theories will understand while those less familiar may struggle. I think readers may be left asking the question, 'why did Patriarchy start?'; I know I was a bit. But it's not what the book sets out to answer and it was enough for me to keep reminding myself of that as I read; keep remembering the title!A good read in any case, strongly recommend.

Short but powerful
This compressed but powerful guide to research showing the roots of patriarchal attitudes is a must read for anyone trying to find their way through our modern era of backlash and misogyny. A fascinating and authoritative exploration of the underpinnings of emotional harm and disjunction that lead to hatred and violence.

mind blown
The authors put to words (occasionally hard for me to follow but I’m so glad I stuck with it) everything that has been impossible for me to see and express clearly in all my years of trying to. I will continue to delve into Gilligan’s work and that of others who she cites. I truly believed this is transformative.
