What a diffeence a new stylus makes
My Dual 1229 has never sounded so good. The high are crisp. The turntable might be on the verge of mechanical senility, but with this stylus it can still sing.

Great sound quality with the right tracking force
I recently rescued a Dual 1615 turntable that came with a Shure M91ED cartridge that was missing a needle. Since this product is highly rated, I decided to give it a try. My initial experience was disappointing. The sound was distorted with sibilance present in vocals. I then spent some time fine tuning the tracking force, azimuth alignment, and anti-skating settings using the HiFi News Analog Test LP. What i found is that this needle requires a higher tracking force to extract the best sound quality. I settled on 3g. It was only after revisiting the product listing that I saw the recommended tracking force. It now sounds great! I recommend this for anyone looking to resurrect a turntable with a compatible Shure cartridge. I've attached a microscope photo of the needle. It looks to be high quality and well-mounted.

Seems to work great for the price
It fits my turntable, I did a little bit of research and it is key that you set the weight on the arm correctly. A lighter setting on the arm does not guarantee better performance. I am very happy with how this needle is working and cheap enough to have a supply in the waiting.

Very poor quality
Stylus was bad right out of the box. Very poor quality. I bought this stylus to replace the alternate cartridge for my Garrard zero 100 TT that has been in my family for nearly 50 years. So after all of this time, I am very familiar with the unit and have replaced the stylus many times. This is the first time that I have ever received a defective stylus in all that time. It was so foreign to me that I immediately started troubleshooting the TT not believing it could be a defective cartridge. Well luckily I had good judgment and stopped arrempting to fix after many adjustments to the stylus force. I was about to zero out the tracking and start from scratch. But being that the TT had recently had a very expensive total overhaul from a Garrard pro, including a total recalibration of the tone arm, I thought better of it and figured it be better to wait for a new stylus to come before digging in any further. Well I am so glad I held back. I bought a better stylus from a different vendor and immediately upon replacement, my TT was back to 100%. This must be a bonded Chinese diamond, not the Japanese clone I thought it was. To top it all off, the return has to go through USPS NOT UPS, so I have to print a label and rebox it, instead of the normal inconvenience of simply just dropping the item at the UPS store. Never again Needle Daddy!
