Judith Baker Montano's Essential Stitch Guide: A Source Book of inspiration - The Best of Elegant Stitches & Floral Stitches

This book is a rehash of Judith Baker Montano's Elegant Stitches and Floral Stitches into a sigle book that contains some content of both books. I have had the original books in my library for some time and they are frequently used. The content of these books is wonderful, but the published has put a cheap cover on thos book that was already curled by the time I got it from Amazon. Do yourself a favor and get the original Elegant Stitches and Floral stitches through a second hand seller like Ebay to have copies that will last the test of time.

The illustrations in this book are really hard to decipher. I had to look a bunch of them up on youtube. Judith Baker's other stitch guide "Free-Form Embroidery" is better and actually has more information in it. I feel I didn't need to purchase them both. The information in each book is almost identical, but this book Essential Stitch Guide has less.

Includes some wonderful combination stitch ideas -- I would love to see a book by this author that focuses on more sdtitch combos. The samples of her work, in the back are very inspiring - with steps to take our own art or photos as a springboard thru a similar for our own mixed media masterpiece. I am looking forward to her next book!

Magnificent book. Great quality print. Fantastic inspiration. And clear and easy instructions. My mom first borrowed this book from the library and loved it so much that she bought it. Baker's works are all creative and demonstrate a keen talent for color and composition.

I bought a copy at JoAnn's Fabric store and liked it so much I went back to get another for a gift, but the store was out. Luckily there was one on Amazon. I know my riend will like it as much as I do.

Inspiring both visually and in technique. Top shelf item if you want to paint with thread! The one you'll reach for most often.

Excellent book. Good examples and illustrations. I also like the way I can open it and it stays open to make it easy to refer to as I am following the instructions for a particular stitch.

A really nice book. I haven’t tried any of the stitches but I can see how easy it is to create the different stitches.

A beautiful book, has a lot of stitches and also some Ribbon stitches, also a bit for left handers.

it is good to have a 'dictionary' of stitches at one's fingertips when doing embroidery. It also borders on embroidery with silk ribbon too which is a bonus.

I purchased this beautiful book for my Sewimate who is intresting in everything hand embroidery techinques! I heard she is completely thrilled and says this book is inspirational .
