While this is a great product, it is NOT for beginners
While this is a great product, it is NOT for beginners. (to weight training) As a beginner you only need to lift and have a decent diet, you will make all kinds of gains without supplements, save for maybe protein powder if you aren't getting enough of that in your diet. When gains slow down or stop, Creatine can help, along with caffeine if you need it. (better to get the sleep though....) When things get even more difficult a good pre workout can help a little more than coffee/caffeine pill. BCAA is only really needed while cutting and trying to exercise in a fasted state, or to get you by during intermittent fasting. If you are on a bulk or even maintenance I don't see the use for them, as you have enough complete protein and carbs in your system at all times to spare muscle and provide energy. Anyway if you are going to take them, this ON product is one of the best ones out there. They float on the water and mix fairly easily, so you drink them all instead of having them sit on the bottom of the glass/shaker. I'll use the unflavored if I mix it with my pre workout which is already flavored, otherwise I use this....not the best tasting but palatable compared to unflavored!! (I use the unflavored in my pre workout because it's a little cheaper)

Excellent not great tasting but chug it down it works!
Tastes a little bad however for the benefits of BCAA and because it mixes well with water and has NO artificial crap in it no gluten, sweetner or junk and seems to work I used it today before my workout and totally kicked ass on cardio and when I lifted and I am hopeful this and my routine with L Gulatimine raw will do the trick. Building and keeping muscle is my goal I am a female and need the extra boost before and after work outs so that I am not sore and fatigued after not 20 anymore LMAO. But I can say for the money and for how great I felt today it worked well. Mix it with some lemon in the water and chug it down worth it. Taste is NOT that bad compared to taking some gross s*** like Nystatin powder *anyone that has had this knows what I am speaking about this is nothing in comparison and benefits are great. Hopefully they continue to make and will sell in a larger container since a person needs to take it 2x per day to really get the benefits before work out and after. GREAT product if you are seeking to avoid added crap gluten, sugar, and artificial sweetners the poison etc

BCAA's: Take Them and Don't Be a Baby
This stuff is great. I will preface by saying that I've never been a fan of pre-workout supplements in general. They cram way too much stuff in most of those and they decide your dosages (percentage-wise at least). I am the kind of guy who buys supplements separately and mixes them how I want (pure creatine mono, unflavored whey isolate, unflavored bcaa's etc) so I can decide how many grams I get of any one thing. I had never really tried BCAA's at all until I recently got into doing fasted morning workouts. I love pretty much everything about working out that way: you get it done first thing in the morning, you get to have a huge breakfast afterwards, and you get to spend all day feeling jacked up. Anyway, when I first started doing that I would just crash about 20 minutes in, especially with heavier weights. I got turned onto BCAA's and I've tried them a number of different ways before the workout. What I've settled on now is one serving (5g) of the ON Unflavored BCAA powder just mixed in cold water, and then a cup of black coffee. This ensures that I stay calorie-free (ok black coffee is like 2 calories) before my workout, and I feel like Superman once they kick in (about 10 min for me). People talk about how gross the taste is taking this stuff straight in water. PEOPLE, IT'S NOT THAT BAD! It actually tastes a little sweet to me. Plus I follow it with strong coffee. I mean, seriously, if drinking some amino acids is more uncomfortable than the workout you're about to do, I think you might be doing it wrong anyway.

Staple in my house
I've ordered this product about 3-4 times already, i love this stuff! I've tried out a couple different things while lifting weights. I tried tribulus terrestris, deer antler velvet, creatine, pre-workout supplements, etc. And Optimum Nutritions (unflavored) BCAA powder is the only product I keep buying consistently. I take some before workout (in my pre-workout drink), during my workout mixed with gatorade or some kind of drink (mixed with water tastes horrible), and post-workout stacked with my protein shake. That's why i love this product, you can stack it on anything your drinking and get the essential amino acids, and it doesnt alter the taste TOO much. At first you'll notice it'll make your protein shake taste a little, worse i guess you can say. But you quickly get past the taste, and it becomes normal to you :). I take my BCAA's before, during, and after as advised to me by a bodybuilder. As far as recovery goes, this thing is the best. Where my soreness would last 3-5 days, my post-workout soreness after a hard sesh will only last me 1-2 days. And thats with that moderate, heck yeah feels good pain!! I feel like it helps me keep going in the gym, but i also take in combo with a pre-workout. Overall, I recommended this to anyone that takes the gym seriously. I may run out of creatine, or pre-workout and ill be fine. But i cant ever go without these BCAA's!!!

Good post workout recovery stuff..
Hii.. Mostly my workouts involve a lot of plyometrics, High Intensity Interval training and lot of weight training (medium weights, high reps). Been working out for more then a decade now. In the past i would mostly try to get my proteins naturally (Milk, cottage cheese before sleeping, Eggs etc). it worked well but then i thought i had hit a plateau and whenever i tried to push myself more i would end up feeling tired the next day. This coupled with a day job made it difficult. Finally i did buy the BCAA by ON along with the ON gold standard whey protein and ON L-glutamine. First impressions -- You open the box and that bitter smell of BCAA knocks you out for a second. tried to mix it in water but it creates lumps (trick -- i use blender bottle with the blender ball in it and it mixes like a charm). one swig of it and i was almost puking all over (bitterness personified). steeled myself and gulped the damn thing down. by my 2nd or 3rd workout session i even forgot that there were taste issues with this for me ever. (i mean come on, tequila is fine, this ain't eh?). Observations -- I honestly feel my recovery post workout has improved tremendously. Earlier a killer workout day would mess up my next day and i would go zombieing around the whole day :D. Wife would go all nuclear on me for such foolishness but then that was that. Now, BRING IT ON(literally i mean) :P I workout to my hearts content and am all sunshine the following day. No lactic acid built up as such and muscles respond clearly. The definition and muscle tone has improved as well. Also, i have not felt any side effects from it until now of any kind. Word of caution -- i haven't used this as a standalone supplement (along with Whey and L-Glutamine) so cannot and will not go all ga ga about its benefits. I think it is helping me and i will stick to it for sometime (cycle it maybe and check if i am able to observe some differences in my performance). Grievances -- taste for one if i may call it. the container came with just a poly-ethene cover enclosing the bottle cap and the neck. the product was NOT sealed once i got rid of the polyethene and twisted the cap off. This was a concern for me. Ratings -- 4 stars.

Taste bad - not unflavored
Warning: Unflavored! this is not unflavored, it is horrible tasting and the taste is unbearable. I put it in my orange pre workout drink and my protein shake and it makes everything taste bad, just bad. I will never use this product again this is a photo of my protein shake. I put it in and it’s just terrible. I drink this protein shake all the time and it tastes delicious now that I added this and it is horrible.

Optimum Nutrition is a great product Great Value, Great Price NO BS
I like Optimum Nutrition and you will probably see a review on a lot of thier products I have picked up. They have a great product at a great price with no BS junk added or hard to read labels. I picked up the BCAA powder when I was trying to make my own post work out drinks or adding this to my protien powder. I have stopped drinking protien shakes and I have picked up a post work out drink. So now I add this to the post workout drink for MORE BCAA or add to some OJ. There is NO taste at all on this powder, I have added to OJ, protien shakes, and coffee. Mixes well in all temps of water. Maybe my taste buds are different than all the other people on here or because I am adding it to something other than just water I am masking the taste. Look up BCAA online to find out the benefits. Here is some info from the Optimum Nutrition site on this product: FIRST FULLY INSTANTIZED BCAA POWDER The Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are essential amino acids that can't be produced by your body. They can only be taken in through diet. Because the BCAAs are very much in demand with all kinds of athletes, we've made them available to active adults everywhere in a formula that's instantized for easy mixing. ON's Instantized BCAA 5000 Powder is also available flavored and unflavored for stacking. 1st Ever Instantized Formula Mixes Easily with a Spoon Leucine, Isoleucine, & Valine in 2:1:1 Ratio Unflavored Versatility Highly Concentrated Supports Muscle Building & Recovery Efforts
