Why is this piece of plastic $15 instead of $5? That said, it helped me install a Nest thermostat without patching the wall from the old thermostat. It's not the prettiest look, so I will probably remove it when I come around to patching the wall.

So we actually rent our house but still wanted to install a smart thermostat. We have a bunny who lives in the house and wanted to be able to control the temperature if we happen to not be home so this was our best choice was to install a nest thermostat. However our house is old and when we took off the old standard box there was a huge hole behind it that the nest wouldn’t cover this plate works perfectly to cover all the space it needs to it was an easy fix considering this wasn’t our house and we didn’t want to pay for patching drywall repair just to put in a smart thermostat it was simple to install and functions great

Recently, we decided to upgrade our old thermostat to a Google Nest model. While the new thermostat itself was a significant improvement, we were left with an unsightly hole from the previous installation. Thankfully, we came across the Google Nest Trim Kit, and it has been an absolute game-changer! Not only did it cover up the ugly hole seamlessly, but it also added a sleek and polished finish to the overall look of our thermostat setup.

..after pulling the wire harness out from the HVAC there was a hidden 5th blue wire in the cable, it turns out a constant power source. Adapter not needed. As I'm typing the Nest is working fine, Display lights up as you walk by which mean the remote power supply, blue wire, is working. Here in July A/C is now cycling on/off more frequently though. I can attest that the on/off cycle has to do with the threshold temp being , cycling the A/C more often, half a degree verses 1. It's going to take at least a year or more to formulate an analysis of savings. Edited to add: I'm able to program the Nest to save energy during my utilities Monday thru Friday "Super Peak" period. Our rates per kilowatt hour are: .0934 cents 9PM-9AM, .1622 cents 9AM-4PM, Super Peak 4PM-7PM .4057 cents. I have added a custom setting to cool down an extra degree from 3-4PM before sleep mode 4-7PM. This will enable the temperature to climb only a few degrees during the 4-7PM period.

Purchased this for my google nest. This wall plate covered the ugly wall behind the old thermostat. Looks really nice and was really easy to install. Took me 5 minutes to install.
