No regrets!
I love everything about this. I was concerned at first when it came to buying it. Not really about quality or anything, but I was worried about whether or not my friends would enjoy it. I've got one friend who's super into these kinds of strategic action games, but the rest like the more casual games. We've played about 10 games now, and are nowhere near exhausting the content of this box alone. There's definitely a steep learning curve for just getting into the swing of battle, but once we got over that initial wall, it became more about learning the characters and seeing who we liked. The characters are nice and varied. Not one of them looks or functions the same as another, which makes it feel like characters weren't just put in to pad the numbers. The art for their stands are well done, and the stands themselves are a good quality. Speaking of quality of materials, everything in this box is built to last. All of the parts are good quality, and won't fall apart on you. In addition, they're properly segmented in their sheets, so they pop out cleanly. Hell, they're so well-segmented that I just shook one of the sheets and a few parts were already ready to go.My biggest complaint, I suppose, is that the box isn't too good at holding everything (tokens, character stands, life wheels) without making an internal mess. Though, I just organized everything into small plastic bags, so it's fine.Overall, this is a very fun game that you should play with a dedicated group because playing with new players all the time can get a little drab as it becomes easier to pick out their moves, and counter them constantly. My friends and I are debating when to get an expansion to spice things up, but we're fine with just this for now since the amount of content provided by this set alone is ludicrous.

Excellent game with tons of re-playability
One of my top 5 board games, and I haven't even played through everything. So this is the middle-of-the-road BattleCon game that Level 99 makes. The high-end would be Devastation of Indines, the low-end being Fate of Indines. I went with War because it was at the right price point for me. Devastation seemed like a big investment for a mostly two-player game, and Fate didn't seem to have enough content.Part of my wishes I went with Devastation, as I believe it comes with 1-player rules, but War has plenty to offer on it's own. All the characters have a unique style, which will take several plays to grasp, and the game also includes several rule variations and arenas to keep matches interesting. You're looking at hundreds of matches before you would even start to feel like you've really played through the entire contents of the box.The only downside I can think of is the strict 2-player setup. You can tag team with other characters (which could be other people) making it 4-players, but I really wish there was a way for me to play on my own and practice with the harder characters. Although, if you have a friend/partner/significant other who loves a good fighting game, you'll love well this translates. Plan on spending many nights mastering these fighters, and when you think you're done there's a lot more where this came from.

Best buy for beginners, hands down.
The best battlecon set, IMO. Don't get me wrong, Devastation is an absolutely amazing set and well worth the price tag. However, I find that War simply has the best character design and it's WAYYYY more beginner friendly with Cadenza, Kallistar, Kehrolyn, and Hikaru all being great characters to learn on that still have good skill ceilings. As for the game itself, I'm sure the other reviewers have said it all as to whether or not it's worth it. However, I'd note that this a hardcore game for people willing to play it A LOT, and that the skill ceiling is EXTREMELY high, to the degree that an inexperienced player can easily get clean swept and it may be hard finding friends willing to learn when they're consistently getting dropped on. Also notable is the fact that this game has a lot of bad matchups (70%+ favored to one character or other), which might be a hangup if you like games like street fighter for the immaculate matchup balance.10/10 one of the better fighting games and one of the best board games.

Fun for the right crowd
Fighting games and board games have a different feel to them. One requires fast reflexes and the other knowing what is best for your next move. This game isn't a perfect mix of the two bit it does a great job at it. BattleCON games are great two or four players that give you a wide cast and plenty of fun moments. My only real complaint is that I did have to look up balancing rules for the game because some characters are or can be over powered without it.

Love this game
The same game I know and love, with a few balancing adjustments. The rules are straight forward and matches are a lot of fun. If you like fighting games, this is for you.

This is a very interesting game! The artwork is superb and the way moves "cool down" is handled very well. I just wish it could accommodate more than 2 players easier.
