Tales From Shakespeare (Signet Classic Shakespeare) Review: Ideal for family reading hour - The Lambs' classic book is an ideal read-aloud text and a perfect introduction to Shakespeare for young readers and listeners. We've found it suitable for our older children especially -- ages 7 and up. Each "tale" takes around fifteen minutes to read, and although some of the vocabulary is rather elevated, vocal inflection and emphasis can aid comprehension. The Lambs have done a commendable job of capturing the drama of each of Shakespeare's plays in a 10-12 page narrative format. Highly recommended. Review: Beautiful and timeless - Attracted to the quality of the cover and the overall publishing was so attractive. The plays in prose is so significant for readers who may not want to tackle the archaic writing form. Recommend.

Perfect "Tales"
My very young friend celebrates his birthday with William Shakespeare. I thought it would be a great way to introduce him to Shakespeare's stories by giving him a copy of the Lamb "Tales." His mother and father can read the stories to him and when he's older, I hope he'll pick up the plays and read them himself. The book is an older copy but it was in great shape. FLAWLESS. And, most importantly, it arrived in time for the birthday party. Superb service!

A modern approach to an old favorite
The book introduces the Shakespeare plays as stories. The language is a mixture of Shakespeare's dialect and a more modern English. It works well.

Great book for anyone, children or adults who want to start getting into Shakespeare
The book was in excellent condition just as promised. I have an old copy of the work, but wanted this one for my grandchild. It's a great way to introduce people to reading Shakespeare.

Buyer beware of First Rate Publishers!!! They sell trash!
(And by "trash", I mean this goes straight from shelf to trash.) No page numbers. No table of contents. Stories begin mid-page (they are all just crammed together) - in fact, first story begins on the same page that the PREFACE ends! Type is much too small. No illustrations (for a children's book??). Ridiculous typos on just about every page. Stories cut-off mid-sentence to be picked up mid-sentence later in the storyline. This is an absolute trash publishing of what would seem like an otherwise beautiful compilation of Shakespeare stories (no flack to the authors, whatsoever). This publishing company is absolutely shameless. If this printing is THIS bad, I cannot imagine they take pride in ANY of their printings. In fact, a cursory search shows First Rate Publishers to repackage public domain books in poorly-prepared reprints. And of course, we did not get to this book until later in the semester, and so it is past the return window.

Extremely small print
These pages are extremely hard to read because the font is really small, maybe 8 point, with not much white space on the page. It seems they were trying to fit as much as they could on each page in order to save paper. I haven't begun trying to read it yet, but it is seems it will be an unpleasant experience due to the difficulty keeping concentration on the small print. I may just return it.
