DO NOT BUY
Received this item and it worked well for about 8 months when it stopped working without reason. I contacted the seller and got sent a replacement. After having the replacement for about 9 month it stopped working as well. After contacting the seller I was told there is only a one time replacement covered under warranty. Will not buy this item again!

Works great
I don't know what the problem was in the previous reviews but I followed the instructions and had no problems what so ever. Took about 15 minutes to program and about 5 minutes to mount. Bare in mind that this keypad has the option of opening multiple doors so you must add *1 or *2,etc after your pin as stated in the instructions. Nice unit for the price.

Works for me!
I'm pretty darned proud of myself. After researching and reading the other reviews about this entry system, I decided to go for it. I have a really old garage door opener (Allstar/Challenger), from 1991 or 1992. Even my two remotes are the original. From some other reviews it looked like this old system has a different frequency than other remotes, so the universal ones might not work for me. Sure enough, in small print on the back of my system it reads "318", which none of the others have.So I received this on Friday, programmed it in about 3 minutes and it works! You can program multiple doors with it, but I will probably just do the one door as that's all I need when out walking to get back in the house without carrying a garage door remote or a house key. Yes, to open, you do have to hit your 4 button PIN plus the star button plus the number '1' for the first door you program. However, that doesn't bother me that much. And for those of you confused about how to change your pin, it is a little confuing, as the directions don't fully explain it, but I think you use the example given when you are setting up your door and using the factory setting of 1,2,3,4. Instead of that, you use whatever 4 digit pin you have it set to, plus the rest of the code that is given in the instructions.Hopefully this helps anyone who is thinking purchasing this!

DOES NOT WORK (with Allister garage door)
I have programmed 2 different hand-held remotes and another brand of wireless keypad remote to work with my Allister garage doors. I cannot for the life of me get this thing to work. First of all, Allister has only 2 dip switch settings, not three as the instructions indicate, so I have to guess at which of the three codes into which one translates dip switch settings my 2-setting dip switches are translated. Call tech support? well the number listed in the instructions: 610 873 6900 is DISCONNECTED. hmmmm. not worth any furhter effort, as I said, I've been successful with others, I didn't want to stay with my existing remote cause, after 4+ years it stopped working below 40 degrees (yes, I changed its batteries). seems like a 5-star product in comparison

This works fine for our ancient All Star garage door (1990ish)
This works fine for our ancient All Star garage door (1990ish). We wouldn't have been able to use it without another reviewer who explained what to do since our garage door code only has two switch positions not three (Thank you!). The answer is: Off=2, On in positions 1-4 = 1, On in positions 5-9 = 3. It'd be great if that was in the directions, but once you know it, programming is a breeze. We also pressed the on/reset button before programming the code, and again before programming the pin.

Read this if you can't get your keypad to work:
The instructions assume that your remote has ternary switches (3 possible positions). If your remote has binary switches, you need to follow these rules for determining the 9 switch values...Rule 1) Regardless of the switch number: If the switch is in the down position, the value is 2Rule 2) For switch numbers 1 - 4: If the switch is in the up position, the value is 1Rule 3) For switch numbers 5 - 9: If the switch is in the up position, the value is 3Example (See Photo): #1 is up, so value = 1 #2 is up, so value = 1 #3 is down, so value = 2 #4 is down, so value = 2*For the rest, up will be = 3* #5 is up, so value = 3 #6 is down, so value = 2 #7 is up, so value = 3 #8 is down, so value = 2 #9 is up, so value = 3Ridiculous that the instructions don't mention this scenario. This video explains it very well.[...]

Works OK thanks to the previous reviewer
Thankfully we were able to program it by using the power button as Mr Cline suggested. We agree it is nonsense to have to enter*1 after the pin# for a one door situation.

Confusing installation instructions
The product features section of the instructions states that the device will control up to four separate entrances. I have 3 garage doors, all with AllStar operators that have DIP switches with 9, 3-position switches each. After much frustration, including resetting DIP switches on the operators, I could only get the controller to operate one door. I could not choose to operate doors 1, 2, or 3 from the wireless key entry as was stated in the product features. With different program settings, I could operate each door (individually), but I had to physically change the program to access each different door. Although not directly stated, it appears the unit will only control multiple operators if the operators are the 8-switch models. A simple statement to that effect in the instructions would have saved me an afternoon!
