DON'T BUY - Won't Work
This is a scam and sadly will not work no matter what you do.After buying this I found out (after further research) you need an adaptor to convert the HDMI signal to VGA, as one is analogue and one digital. This means that this cable will not work under any circumstances.Looks like you need to buy an adapter to convert the VGA to HDMI.

Quality product at reasonable cost, one way operation.
Intended to use this to connect a raspberry pi hdmi output to an old monitor with vga input. Sadly this doesn’t work. Seems to need vga output to hdmi input. Still kept the lead though, useful for testing old computers on modern monitors.
