What is the end tip diameter? I am wondering if I can run them through a standard shoe type eyelet to store hanging and not in use...

I tried to enter the tip through a standard shoe (tennis) and it cannot run through.

Would these be reliable for camping or playing airsoft to keep zippers tight and secure!?

You can use them for camping but depends on what you want to do. They are 3" long. I would probably get the larger ones for camping. Personally use would stick with bungee cords or carabiners for camp just by as they are sturdier and would keep gear more secure. I would use these camping to maybe hang my headlamp in my tent or hd some of the tent poles for storage. The heads of these are about 1/4 in and may be kinda big for any zippers that I have seen. Haven't played airsoft so not sure how big the zippers are.

how thick is the 3 inch one?

The middle part is 3/8 inch thick, but the ends are at least 1/4 inch.
